People have an economic incentive to pick the low-hanging fruit, but eventually there will be none left. Personally, I wouldn't mind accepting something like that for my own open source project. It takes time to proofread, and I apprec

Before Windows 8, Valve seemingly couldn't care less about Linux! It bothers me how Valve tries to make itself out to be Linux's best friend nowadays. They also talk about open source a lot despite them ever releasing only proprie

For how to use Linux well, it helps to become very familiar with the UNIX shell. I recommend reading The Linux Command Line* for this. * http://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php

I adored the Humble Bundle for its idealism and for spearheading DRM-free and Linux gaming. It seems that idealism doesn't always pay the bills.

If this project used Ruby, it would be an approachable tool for back-end web development neophytes to learn with before moving on to Sinatra and Rails.

Even if it were legal, it would not necessarily be ethical. People incorrectly assume that when something is ubiquitous, it should belong to the public. Super Mario is not something that has always existed or would eventually exist, it is a

Many of us love the Super Mario franchise and SMB has made a huge cultural impact, but that does not entitle people to use it as a base for their own work. Take inspiration from Mario and create original games!

The open source desktop is kept alive mostly through donated spare time. This time is limited. We would do well to maximize the impact of time spent creating and maintaining open source desktop software. Right now the standard language to b
