Well, I'm one of those guys that prefer simpler languages. I prefer C over C++, Scheme over Common Lisp, Kotlin over Java/C#/Scala, Python over Ruby, Go over C++/Java. Kotlin is a language where every feature is carefull

When the only thing you care about is performance that is a valid comparison. Besides, Nashorn is fast, was ment to be fast, and they are working on making it faster.

And Nashorn is supposed to be faster than Rhino... Nashorn and V8 are both JS-engines, why wouldn't you compare them?

Isn't the only real difference that hg branches are constant, while bookmarks are temporary?

What? Git push by default pushes to where you cloned from. If you want to push to a different remote, you say so: "git push another-remote". If the remote doesn't have that branch, you create it, same as you would with bookma

All branches can change, and are mutable in that regard (altough commits can't change). Local branch == Bookmark with unpushed changesets All branches and commits/changesets are treated equal. Yeah. In mercurial you have Branches

You don't have mutable branches in Git, I think he refers to commits mercurial don't allow you to alter (public ones). Local branches in Hg is the same as bookmarks you havent pushed. Remote tracking branches in Hg would be bookma

core.logic doesn't really use macros does it? Maybe to simplify the syntax, but macros is in no way required to build a core.logic library, at least not in the same way as core.async requires it. The real beauty of macros is to simplif

C# allows generating and re-writing code at runtime. Couple that with reflection, bypassing private/protected modifiers etc. Does that make it dynamic? Genuinly interested, what defines a dynamic language?

This is due to Git's tight integration with regards to branches and namespaced branches though isn't it? Hg push isn't aware of bookmarks as far as I know, so Git has more to explain compared to Hg, where lightweight branches

Hows the backup story with Hg nowadays? Git uses an immutable storage solution, so rebasing or other commands to alter history doesn't delete anything. Hg doesn't have the same architecture, so how does undoing histedit work? Genu

git stash? Actually, you can also just create a branch, commit your work (instead of hg qpush) and just use git rebase --interactive when you want to "finalize" your work.

Actually an object in JS stores string keys only, if you try to insert something else it's auto-converted to strings. Array is an object wich stores integer keys. You don't really have a datastructure that stores arbitrary keys in

Wouldn't two threads possibly run in parallel in a multi-core system? Concurrency, as I understand it, is dividing things into tasks that can run (to some degree) independantly of eachother. Parallelism is two or more concurrent tasks

In a nutshell, generational GCs works by scanning live data. Thus, anything not scanned is garbage. While the application is running, it also allocates new data. If you allocate an object somewhere --after-- that area has been scanned, the

In my oppinion, one of the coolest things about Node is the ability to share code between server and client. Especially for validation, this is awesome.

You use the Option type. Option can either be None or Some(T). I think Rust optimizes this to (non)null, so there is very little, if any, overhead compared to the equivelent C++ code.

I would store application state in a atomic reference, and have "time" be updated every second by a timer. I would add a watch to the application state, so that every time application state changes, the UI is re-drawn. At least th
