It's X11/systemd/ipv4 problem. People agreeing there is a problem doesn't mean that any single solution will be accepted. With terminals you have a system that works with anything from HPC-s to serial devices. An alterna

The only reason i bother with custom keyboards hobby is because this is the only way to get a split keyboard that doesn’t cost 400$. They are great but very expensive- this I think is one of the main reasons why they are so niche.

It’s an open source project that can be forked - especially when google is not behind it to protect the market share, with users that don’t expect to pay and microsoft also involved with their own version. Currently it’s probably worth bili

The only unfair comparison here is Emacs and VS Code, because their goals are a bit orthogonal. VS Code is meant to be easy but extendable code editor, while Emacs dropped the easy part at least 20 years ago.

And even if the software doesn’t cost you in failed projects it can cost you in other ways. The old meme from 10 years ago about: “Linux being free if your time is free” is largely false for personal usage, but in the corporate environment

I don’t use the physical HP50G i have that often, but i love it emulated on the phone. It’s for semi complicated quick calculations where scientific calculator interface really shines compared to anything else available.

This fundamentally doesn't work because internet is not something existing in a vacuum - you need wires, fibers and servers to make it work, and those are located in somebodies jurisdiction. The willingness to transmit encrypted data e

I think the main problem with Peruns' videos are that they are videos. I run a little program on my home-lab that turns them into podcasts and I find that I enjoy them far more because I need to be less engaged with a podcast to still

Output of the discussed nuclear facility is 3.6GW, which means weekly production of 604.8 GWh, or around 100x as much as currently installed storage capacity. And going into only one type of electricity production especially with the unpred

I think there exists a point, where AI stops making sense in a cost equation. Currently we are well accustomed that machines are cheap and humans are expensive, and anything that can be done by machine instead of by a human means a cost red

Ok, but why then, if storage is not a big problem of solar power, the US has 179 gigawatts of installed solar capacity with rated power of all grid storage on the US grid being 31.6 GW, of that only 4.8 GW being battery storage. [2] [1] ht
