That’s because “impact” is generally code for making other people rich. If you’re in a small enough company for your impact to matter, chances are your stock options are still chips, which you might never get to cash in. If the company is p

I’ve spent a fair amount of time trying different katsu curries in Japan and abroad and there are absolutely great katsu curries outside Japan. A little different, usually lacking a sweetness, but that’s more to target local palettes. Thoug

1-2% browser share is a common cutoff for support and Firefox is hurdling towards it. Maybe they’re looking ahead just a few months.

This doesn’t offload work to another thread though. And it’s actually more costly as it trigger style recalculations throughout the tree even when it no-ops.

Yeah true tho I’m referring to the counter being set via the content style, which doesn’t update the DOM as such but does/can change layout

I wonder if we have collectively worse memories than in the past partly for the fact our devices are constantly upgraded and replaced. Likewise fast fashion etc.

This VR headset isn’t but I think spatial computing will be. IMO this Vision Pro wasn’t meant to be a big seller but a way of taking a research project into an iterative production process. The first iPhone was shit too, same with Apple Wat

It doesn’t though. There is no game of the calibre of TOTK, Mario Odyessy etc on iOS and there never will be.

Yeah but these can be precalculated in the perceptual window as per Framer Motion and Motion One, and then handed off to WAAPI. Which is still needed for actual spring physicals vs the facsimile of linear() (which might often be enough!)

It will stutter because if your browser is under heavy load then your async function will run when the browser is free to do so - not at the 1s mark as specified by your transition. If you instead build the keyframes up front and give them

Fwiw Motion One and Framer Motion both have complex sequencing of WAAPI animations so you have the control but also the off-thread performance

If thread blocking is a problem then your example would stutter at every await. VS using https://motion.dev/api/timeline or Framer Motion both of which can sequence complex WAAPI animations.

WASM comes with no standard library which is bad enough for replacing JS but a killer for CSS.

It’s not free though. I’m sure you get a lot but you also lose a great deal by writing weird client side-only JS where you imperatively reach into the DOM with decoupled selectors.

useRef does only one thing. It returns an object where the latest value is current. That’s all. Element components will use a ref to put a reference to themselves if you pass one via the ref prop. They can be used to store anything else too
