Why should that stop them. Similar naming didn't stop Apple from releasing MAC OS 9, when Microware OS-9 already existed.

Or just install the JRE, but from the developer download site (same place you download the JDK).

Though I don't personally have any problem with system Java installations, I agree that it would be nice if JetBrains would just do as most Java game developers (and many destop app developers) do and simply bundle a JRE with the IDE.

Bank security is a poor comparison. Bank security doesn't significantly inconvenience the customers. It primarily causes extra work for the employees and, of course, potential robbers. DRM, on the other hand, causes the most inconvenie

I personally despise infinite scroll, at least on mobile sites, as it limits: 1. My ability to orient myself in the content. 2. My ability to control my consumption of the content (e.g., jump back to top, jump to end, jump to rough internal

I think the "mobile browser is dead" part is overblown bs, but I'd offer counterpoint to some of your statements: > Web apps are stored in the cloud, not on your device Put another way, web apps can only be run when you ha

If you love IDEA, you may well get the chance to use it for C & C++ soonish, as well, since they're working on a C & C++ IDE now. Hopefully it really will be good for vanilla C - I have an aversion to C++, and little need for

While I agree that IDEA absolutely should be in the list, I'm not sure that it's actually more popular out in the wild. Eclipse, for all its many faults, is without a doubt the most popular. Sadly IMO, but not undeservedly. Networ

Glad to hear you only have minimal side effects from the Strattera. I tried it for a while several years ago, and, while it worked wonderfully (first period of my life where I actually had any reliable sense of time!), the side effects I ha

Very well deserved! My primary Java IDE had been NetBeans for years, mostly because the rough edges in Eclipse outweighed the extra functionality. Recently I've been doing some Android programming, and found the native lib support in nbandr

As a smaller guy, I find the Mirra to be the best fit for me. The Aeron small is too narrow, and the medium seems to fit, but doesn't (major pain within an hour or so).

Yeah, I agree. In fact, I've recently switched back to FF as my primary browser. The thing that pushed me over the edge was the way chrome insists I log in to my google account. Granted, it doesn't force you to log in, but the version I r

You can set Chrome to block all plugins. There's a context menu item to selectively run the plugin, and a white-list, as well. Nice. Still, I've recently switched back to FF as my primary, for other reasons.
