I don't get it - why do you need to spoof having a monitor connected for a Raspberry Pi? Surely they boot up fine regardless?

Maybe it's my rampant misanthrope leanings, but even in more trivial things like choosing automated kiosks other staffed in CVS, I'm just more comfortable not having to make small talk with a person, worry if they're having a

Like the ancient Romans I couldn't care less about the authenticity of any wine so long as it tasted reasonably well. Anyone making a fuss over provence outside of whether or not it's safe to drink, tastes good and a few basic cri

Surely the incentives that makes a tech exec capable are wildly different from the sort of capabilities expected from any military innovation context? Regardless of rank or an easy track to a commission, there's no "increasing sha

Counterproductive towards what end? It's not as if anyone on here is going to be invited to present before the air accident board?

I'm assuming the Ram Air Turbine gives extra evidence of a dual engine failure (or at least the engine that generated power). Engine spools down, power is lost, air turbine needs to be deployed.

Dual engine failure with a stall right at the end as it's going in. Guessing it's either a foreign object ingested into both engines, probably a bird strike, or fuel starvation.

Yes exactly this... Queues of cheapos outside the lowest price gas station in town to save a pittance in dollar terms but not realize the lost opportunity cost striving to save a buck.

This is such a typical American sneer at public transport. It's tiny, how it possibly carry all those 2x4s, powertools and sheets of plywood when I'm out doing manly things. I'd better go buy that monster truck so I can look

Whether or not this guy is actually homeless is up for debate. What's not debatable is the pervading level of stingy "I spend hours and hours to save a few bucks" mentality that runs through this piece.

Yes but once the guy is sacked for cause, or trumped up poor performance, bad attitude etc. the remaining narrative is crafted by the layer of management that remains.

I know of a guy, but his scenario was quite unique. I was working for an energy company who shall remain nameless, but who's internal IT was a tangle of external consultants milking the place for millions, and ineffective/underser

While the writing seems to be on the wall for entry level developer positions, there's going to have to be a pathway for Amazon and others to have junior devs become senior devs, and be able up fill in whenever the machines fail.

This piece seems to suggest Napoleon was a bad thing for France, when he gave them the civil code and the grand architecture. In contrast to "democratic" Britain, where Wellington's legacy was the poor law and the workhouse.

This is total self-help drivel, engineering management is 1. Focus on and understand the details. 2. Compromise in the right way. The rest is just some art of the deal crap about empire building and getting headcount so you feel safe becaus

This post has all the hallmarks of some therapist's suggestion to focus on the external. Bit too much projection going on here, with a very definite "correctness" to the characterizations.

I'm a big fan of all the builds and videos Ben Eater puts together, I've learned more watching his demos than a couple of years doing hardware design in college.
