I pay nothing, so I’m obviously not a customer. If Cloudflare decides to stop hosting my site free of charge, I will have to find another host. In that sense I depend on them. Is that what you meant by dependant?

This would be a bigger issue if Apple cut off support for older phones like Android vendors do. The iPhone 6 got OS updates for 5 and a half years. I think that’s enough. It’s actually impressive that Apple created a phone that still works

OS updates happen more often, but Safari’s browser engine (WebKit) gets updated with bug fixes and new features exactly twice per year (in March and September), AFAIK.

Yes, but Microsoft and Samsung are adding privacy features to their browsers. Specifically, tracking protection. I can’t imagine Google adding tracking protection to Chrome. That’s the difference.
