There is some genuine insight here, but it is needlessly bundled with defending the kids. Blind conformity is bad, and falls under the umbrella of having a weak will.

One obvious loophole is that there a lot of people (SSNs) who haven’t gone to a college already, so the college can just sign up people and get subsidies without those “students” ever showing up. They can pay these students, or possibly fak

Having a docker image that sets up a VPN server with ideally zero config, plus short instructions for setting up the clients in popular OSes would go a long way to help adoption.

Driving is much more difficult than maybe pressing a button once in a year. Of course it’d pay less. Any lucid person can do it with little training.

And how are you going to generate a US level income in Indonesia? This can only work for retired people living completely off passive income, and even then, it ignores the many cultural and infrastructural problems of living in a poor place

It’s about the reference class. The class of allsame sequences has only a few members. The class of … random numbers all over ala 71833791 has a lot of members. So the probability of seeing the former class is tiny. Think of it in terms of

It actually is possible that geniuses are rare but still contribute a significant fraction to the society. (Which means allocating resources to them will be the socially optimal choice.) Not that taking calculus takes a genius, as evidenced

Knowing the theorems behind calculus is difficult. But they don’t magically make you able to solve limits, integrals, etc. So having different courses that focus on different parts is smart. E.g., there can be a course on compilers that tea

People should bother a second to think who benefits from their unexamined beliefs. To be honest, a lot of people seem to want to kiss ass for the “prestigious” companies, too. You can see this phenomenon on all Apple threads, for example. T
