"The 4th of July" is more formal sounding, so it makes sense for the holiday, but many just say "July 4th" more informally when referring to the holiday. Again grammatically is easier and shorter to say month day vs the

To me its sounds better and more correct to say: February 12th, 2025 Rather than: 12 February 2025 And is easier to say than: The 12th of February 2025 So it's always been natural to write the numeric form the same way, but I am Americ

My preference would have been for PG to have a hierarchal data type that supported all of its normal data types and then built JSON support on top of that.

Since it uses BSON it support more datatypes like date, binary, decimal, etc. Looks like it supports background indexing too. Date and Binary are ones I wish JSONB supported most often.

25hz is part of the "around 30hz" I mentioned. It was a compromise for the Niagra falls turbines between 16.7hz which was good for large motors at the time and flickering lights for which Westinghouse wanted at least 33.3hz.

My Tl;dr would be a little longer - early systems used both higher (around 130 hz) which caused issues with resonance and difficulties making induction motors, and lower (around 30hz) which caused light flicker. 50-60 hz solved these issues

Parameterized sql is a good thing regardless of plan caching, but it also helps with systems that do plan caching. That the client must explicitly prepare the statement and the preparation is tied to the connection is pretty clunky and stil

The mRNA vaccine tells your cells to create the spike protein that was isolated from the original virus for about 48 hours at levels much lower than the virus itself. mRNA is used up by this process which is why your cells stop producing th

I mentioned this down thread, MSSQL and Oracle cache query plans allow their optimizers to take their time which I imagine helps with doing more sophisticated optimization. PG always re optimizes on every call unless you manually prepare th

One significant difference between PG and MSSQL is MSSQL caches query plans allowing its optimizer to be much more sophisticated and slower. PG re-optmizes every query over and over unless you manually do a prepared statement and that only

Whether two measurements of 25C are the same is unknown, these are just values recorded in a database. 25 is a value, null is a value. The values in the db are the same in both cases which is what I would like my db language to deal with an
