Haven't looked at Elm. It may be the cat's pajamas. But reading this article, I'm immediately reminded of all the marketing surrounding XAML a few years back. Not particularly enamored with the results there. Poorly-done, abs

The key difference is that on SO we don't make you give us your email address to read an answer. So when you "sign up" for the newsletter, you're explicitly signing up for email (in fact, you can do so without even bot

While your defense of his vitriol is noble, I'm less convinced of his good intentions. Sadly, this isn't the first time I've run across statements like this; they're all too common in support emails sent to us at Stack E

The problem is, it's easy to pull out specific examples that illustrate bad attitudes, mistakes, etc. Stack Overflow gets somewhere between 8 and 9 thousand questions every day - even with only a small % of those being closed, downvote

Way to dump on autistic people, man. You really think they don't have enough problems, you gotta blame them for this too? If you wanna make something better, call out specific behaviors - ideally, punctuated with specific examples -

Yeah, that was the "Too Localized" reason - it was actually aimed more at things like "where's the error in this 500-line code dump?" but... uh, no one understood that. So we got rid of it about a year ago. There is

We tried a variation on that fairly early on. It led to endless arguments over how subjective something had to be to be branded subjective. See: http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/51627/should-we-perm... In

Pretty certain COM was designed with C in mind, maybe C++ as an after-thought. The differences between C++ objects and COM objects are severe enough to make it not really a lot of fun unless you limit yourself to C-like behaviors anyway (

"The VB stuff" is pretty much all you get when you work with MS-Office. Don't know that I'd call COM "elegant", but you could probably do worse for a language-agnostic object system. Funny enough, I never reall

This wasn't an algorithm update. If the folks at Google can figure out how to detect this sort of gaming more reliably, that may end up in a future algorithm update, and no amount of pleading will matter for anyone affected by it - t

Growing up, a good portion of my summer (and spring, and fall...) was spent helping out in my family's rather large garden. Most of this involved rather tedious, repetitive labor. So to stave off boredom, we made up games to go along w
