In order to get Celebi legitimately in the Japanese version of Crystal, you have to connect your GBC to a phone and use an online service that hasn’t worked for decades. In the VC version they patched the game so that you can get it with a

I mean yes that would work but that kind of goes against the spirit of the whole thing The point is that a real human has actually gone through the level and beat it. If a run an AI against a gameboy game and it wins I wouldn’t consider it

In a month from now Splatoon 1 will basically be unplayable on an original unhacked Wii U. Sure you can do the single player story mode, but the main multiplayer mode is going to be gone by then unless you use Pretendo. I think the Switch i

Honestly I think they just don’t want to deal with it especially since those endpoints are a massive security flaw in their network. In practice this is another “abandonment off to the community” moment like when Rebble spun off of Pebble t

It was trivially easy to set up Yuzu or Ryujinx to play switch games that haven’t even launched yet without even owning a switch. That definitely has some sort of impact on Nintendo’s business. More importantly Yuzu was known to essentially

I’m guessing the future of the Yuzu codebase is being self hosted in China or another country that doesn’t care about IP law and all contributions being anonymous.

C++ is kind of a “language of last resort” type thing where you use it if there isn’t another good option for what you want to do. Eg. Most desktop development was done in C++, but now C# and newer languages have killed off C++ for most des

At least in aerospace we use C++ because we need a bare metal language and C++ is the most full featured/widely used one. Rust is great but toolchain support just isn’t there yet and ADA/Spark aren’t widely used anymore for new de

Yeah people are happy to post and use social networks and forum sites (eg Discord, here, etc.) when those sites don’t make intrusive changes a significant amount of users dislike or do shady things like the Meta Cambridge Analytica scandal.

My problem with the vision pro is that it doesn’t do enough new, the iPhone and the MacBook Air let you use a computer in an area where you previously couldn’t and made it accessible to normal people. The vision pro isn’t that much better i

I think it might be a culture thing but at where I work no one actually uses the break room to eat lunch, everyone eats at their desk. With that said a lot of people do so by skipping the lunch break time

Simple, it’s designed to launch a payload into lunar orbit and starship isn’t. To move something using starship into lunar orbit you need to move an entire starship there while the Ariane 5 is designed to do it in 1 launch at the expense of

Launching JWST on Starship would still be incredibly expensive because JWST is at the Lagrange point on the other side of the moon and 1 starship needs like 30 other starships to fuel it to get there

Also a lot of the complexity comes around doing new things like any sort of cleansheet design. SpaceX has absurdly good reliability launching Falcon 9's because of how many they launch and have launched while they've crashed a ton

I bet a lot of text generated content you see online is LLM generated and I'm not sure how exempt HN is from this. Probably more than most but in 2024 it is trivial to generate something with an LLM that could be assumed to be written

You can’t stop public use but you can make it so that any account posting AI porn of someone without their consent gets auto reported to the police or at least automatically filtered out. Also I think it’s a recency thing, in a few years no

The pebble (and some Garmin watches) is phenomenal at this because they have a non backlit AOD so you can always read the time like a normal watch. The main other bonus for most people right now is health tracking.

In most cases I’ve never actually run into this as an issue. For example the 3DS only officially supports SDHC cards so up to 32GB of data but if you format a larger card as FAT32 it works perfectly fine.
