An under considered side effect of adding renewables to the grid is that electricity prices occasionally approach zero during times of over production. No reason not to use that energy for electrolysis its going to be wasted otherwise.

Very interesting point that while we've figured out how to digitize images, text and sounds we haven't digitized touch. At best we can describe in words what a touch sensation was like. Smell is in a similar situation. We haven&#x

You don't lose pressure or touch sensitivity from wearing even thick welding gloves. You can still feel how hard you are gripping the rod quite easily.

I do not want to have to go into the dev console to copy the text of some random thing you think shouldn't be clickable. It's happened way too many times.

H1-B visas go to more jobs than just software engineers. I totally believe H1Bs in the tech industry (startups, faang) make 150k median.

It's not a bad thing if FAANG gets every single H1B visa. There has long been a complaint that FAANG is willing to pay 300k+/head in salaries but instead Cognizant gets the visa and pays 60k/head. If we have a limited visa po

I don't understand how people feel comfortable writing 'LLMs are done improving, this plateau is it.' when we haven't even gone an entire calendar year without seeing improvements to LLM based AI.

Someone is going to make a new OS based around LLMs soon. It might end up being mobile but desktop could work. Voice and tool calling are close to being good enough.

It's still too early but at some point we are going to start to see infra and frameworks designed to be easier for LLMs to use. Like a version of terraform intended for AI. Or an edition of the AWS api for LLMs.

For factory optimization they didn't ask people to track their hours at 7 minute intervals. They put a camera on them and analyzed what they did over an entire shift. Then they redesign the factory line to optimize things. Having peopl

Storing fission waste products is a solved problem. You can either reprocess them as is done in France. Or you can store them forever. Neither approach is difficult or poorly understood. We can store an infinite amount of fission waste prod

This is really a question of slack. How long can it fail for? For a 100 year mission you likely want at least a month of slack in your air supply. Things are going to break. You build in redundancy.

It's useful because it allows you to build generic tools for an LLM to call. If you want your customer service chatbot to be able to reset peoples' modems you could build a MCP tool for that. The LLM could recognize the tool, trig
