It's a term I just coined and wasn't meant literally. I was referring to interactions that make you feel good and unintentionally become a habit. Myself, I come here to feel clever and learn by engaging in subject matter that inte

When paperback books came out they too were looked at with disdain. Too inexpensive to produce, therefore not trustworthy. Too easy for anyone to read, anytime. They were designed to fit into pockets. Then, even cheaper and disposable comic

This for one. This site is on the dopamine list. Phone is a metaphor. Choose your addictions wisely. Edit: removed unnecessary, kinda rude, wording.

I have a single CD in the car. That would not be an endorsement of anything except the album (Paul's Boutique) and my lack of daily driving.

Try the stovetop method with preferred oil and then drizzle honey before heating. Higher risk of burning, more shaking is needed. When popped, lightly salt. Make sure to rinse the pot with water while still hot to not allow sticky burnt sug

Air poppers are great for efficiency and convenience, but I find the consistency a bit chewy for my taste. Efficiency and convenience usually wins though, which is also why microwave popcorn is such a hit.

This is funny. This is also not the type of comments that I expect to see on HN. I come here out of curiosity, not for humor or entertainment.

My hypothesis, in many consumer cases such as razors, is newer brands are concentrating on growth, not profit, therefore a better deal is often had than buying the established brands. Meaning, as a consumer brand loyalty is expensive over t

Based on the comments, if we accepted life is harder, life is shorter, and an individual's geographical world is smaller, plastic wouldn't seem so indispensable. I am not ready to accept either except for maybe the last one myself

Single use plastic in the medical field is a great example, and was my first thought too. Fuel efficiency seems to be a double edge sword that just extends a resource, but is short sighted.
