Very nice, both in concept and execution! I don't have anything useful to add here, other than saying kudos for a job well done :)

It's really useful for testing FEA algorithms/code. Tim Davis has done a ton of work developing numerical algorithms for sparse systems, his code is used by software like MATLAB and also bespoke supercomputer systems.

Yeah I've always been curious if there is a scheme to the Canadian codes, or if they're just random - anyone know?

Have you been able to reach out to anyone at Seagate in their drive FA group to see if they'd be interested in you sending back samples of the failed drives?

For the Seagate 7200.14, have you checked to see if you have the latest firmware on all of them? http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/223651en Same for the 7200.11: http://knowledge.seag

That's the $64k question :) There seem to be a fair number of local people/shops that will do this for you (usually advertised as "we'll sell your stuff on eBay for you!"), but they take a really hefty cut, so much

You folks would be my absolute heroes if you could partner(?) with another company so that I could take a picture of something in my house/garage that I want to get rid of, and then frictionlessly have it picked up/photographed&#x

OK I must be dumb today, but I can't figure out how to do this and Google isn't helping me either - can you describe, or point me to a link, on how to set this up? Thanks!

This is done during flight test of prototype aircraft (and probably spacecraft as well to some extent, I haven't done that) - the data acquisition system on a flight test plane is incredibly advanced, and the data gets beamed down in r

Having done aerospace instrumentation/telemetry (on a much smaller scale for a private airplane manufacturer), there are some things like separation events, nozzle heating patterns etc that can be captured with a single camera which wo

I was also thinking that the community should start calling this type of implementation 2FAil, to give the companies a little extra 'shame peer pressure'... Anyone up for making a logo, heartbleed-style? :)

Yes, I've contacted PayPal before and asked them for a user setting to be able to disable the 2FA fallbacks, but they don't really seem to care that much for security. I hope someone from PayPal Security team reads this and consid

I've used Paintbrush for this use case because it gets the job done and is free; it hasn't been updated in a while but still seems to work fine under Maverick.

Kudos, very cool. Maybe instead of 'no disk' something like 'SSD for boot media, no local bulk storage' would be clearer, as I was a little confused by this as other posters below were. It's also a little interestin

There are many levels and types of error checking performed in the various layers between the physical signals on the media and the bits that get sent over the drive interface. They are not simple checksums either. Otherwise a modern hard d

I can't recall which runway marker I'm thinking of, but I know that there's one that pilots refer to as 'the coffins' - as in if you land past them, you're in trouble... Obviously they don't call them that
