A better solution for p2p E2EE file-transfer is croc [0] because it can compile to a statically-linked binary without runtime dependencies. Sending files: `croc [files]` Receiving files: `croc code-phrase` Custom code-phrases are supported.

(Note: I speak only for myself and others who share my personal preferences) This comment really hit home for me. Making something good is often at odds with making something that's profitable/popular. I've often found that

What's truly ironic is the browsers in question use QtWebEngine, which is based on Chromium/Blink. It even says so in the User Agent.

I am mostly in agreement with this article; releasing a tarball is a necessary and sufficient mechanism for distributing your software. If it is valuable enough, maintainers can use that tarball to package it. I strongly believe that my sof

Also check out Fennel, a lisp that transpiles to Lua [0]. Lua is a first-class scripting language for Neovim. A previous article on using Fennel for lispy Neovim configuration was posted here a week ago [1]. [0]: https://fennel-l

Plan 9 is the successor to UNIX. Inferno OS is the successor to Plan 9. If you use either for a while, you'll appreciate how well-designed the system is. That, in itself, is valuable. It doesn't need to bring a profit to your star

Whenever I see a new IM service pop up, my first two questions are: 1. Is it FOSS? 2. Can I use it in Weechat? That's really all that matters to me. I currently use Weechat to handle IRC and Matrix.org. I've had to use Slack in an

Tridactyl [0] lets you open text fields in your preferred $EDITOR with a keybind, open YouTube/Vimeo/etc links in MPV, etc. on top of adding Vim navigation to Firefox. This comment was written in a floating Neovim window opened by

Vimscript is good for setting simple configurations, but bad for large/complex software. The Neovim team found that Lua seems to do both pretty well and has a fast implementation (LuaJIT), so they're trying to get Lua to be Neovim

I think there are good ideological reasons to support Linux, BSD, and other FOSS operating systems, not despite , but because of their unpopularity [0]. Edit: to clarify, I refer to operating systems that have a considerable amount of po

Can confirm; I switched to curlie a long time ago and haven't looked back. It would be interesting to create an alternative to `http-prompt` [0], using curlie and go-prompt [1] instead of HTTPie and `prompt_toolkit` [2], respectively.

Fennel is a Lisp that transpiles to Lua. One of Neovim's goals is to make Lua a first-class citizen. Eventually, it will be possible to replace your init.vim with an init.lua. Making an init script in Fennel sounds like a great way to

I should really make a list of things I would change if we could adopt better standards free of legacy. Dvorak would be included; the only reason I haven't learned left-handed Programmer's Dvorak is because most devices don't

I'm really disappointed that Linux gets less attention from FOSS-supportive organizations like Mozilla. Desktop Linux adoption is a catch-22: people don't use it because it doesn't have as much software; however, it has less

Mozilla has implemented DRM support in Firefox. I think Mozilla is more concerned with reducing dependence on nonfree software than supporting free software. Just to clarify, I don't fault Mozilla for having that attitude, but that doe

Safety on Linux is arguably better; with sandboxing utilities like SELinux, AppArmor, bubblewrap and Flatpak, as well as being the platform receiving the most containerization efforts (Docker, Podman, LXC), Linux is arguably more secure. Th
