For picosecond resolution to be useful wouldn't clock rates need to be on the order of THz? Otherwise what advantages would ps resolution give you over ns?

This looks more like MPI style parallelism (usually used on things like supercomputers and clusters) than anything the standard library provides.

I don't think I understand your figures correctly, because none of them (except the last) seem to show any significant drop. There's a drop of about 10 positions in one of them but I wouldn't call that particularly significan

If that's why you have a limit then please go and change that immediately . No, this post is talking about having a minimum length on the password for safety reasons (i.e. a limit on the minimum entropy). You're right that a mini

I think the current "If you see something, say something." is specifically targeted at child abuse. At least, that's how all the adverts make it sound.

Is it an American thing to force your students to buy textbooks? In Britain (at least at the universities that I know about) there tends to be 2 or 3 recommended texts, of which the library will have several copies, and they're meant f

That's when using a custom allocator though, browsing through the other examples it doesn't look like there's any manual memory management going on but that could just be the examples chosen.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a go at you. It's just that I learnt 3 when I already had quite a handle on 2, and I'm not very good at putting myself in the shoes of a beginner.

Is it possible to put that while loop on multiple lines? It looks like there are 6 different assignments in there, and trying to pick out what is happening is very hard when it's all on one line like that.

Compiler optimisations can be very nuanced, especially in C. You might find that changing the code very slightly, or even just using a different combination of compiler options, can speed up the code a surprising amount. Edit: Looks like us

I've always wondered what C running on a JIT would be like. As far as I'm aware all the modern JIT languages are quite high level and do a lot more than C to begin with, so it would be interesting to see if you could eek out even
