Yea it shows up in the UI. Sorry I am so wrapped up in it I don’t know how to explain it well. What part did I do a bad job at explaining? The what it does, why it’s exciting or just the enabling it?

This is something I have been working on for years and am sssooo excited to see merged. This starts a new generation of broadcasting (I hope) * Cheaper servers. More competition and I want to see people running their own servers. * Better v

Doesn’t matter now, but what led you to TURN? You can run all WebRTC traffic over a single port. It’s a shame you spent so much time/were frustrated by ICE errors That’s great you got something better and with less complexity! I do thi

That’s really amazing! You can build a full voip app in rust now. Opus, WebRTC and capture is all available. What were you building this for? If you don’t mind I would love to learn more I have a meeting link on siobud.com

What could you provide that would convince a friend group to leave discord for this? Watching movies together and playing games/chatting sounds compelling?

I think it’s a great idea! I would try and be more ‘use case focused’ instead of trying to replace/combining existing things. I love the idea of a more connected/social future. Make it easy to self host and give people more ways t

I haven't used WebTransport myself, how much can you control? I wonder how often libwebrtc does stuff that wouldn't be allowed in Javascript. Things like probing and overshooting the window? Since libwebrtc is all in C++ and '

What do you think a more simple/modern WebRTC looks like? * RTP over QUIC is promising https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-avtcore-rtp-over... Do you want a new PeerConnection API? Are you annoyed with the

This is so cool! `go2rtc’ is the key too so many cool projects, doesn’t get talked about enough It’s a bummer you had to deal with TURN. Be nice if something was easier here.

Older project that I just got around to updating to pion/webrtc/v4 Still one of my favorites. It just feels so much better pressing play/pause in one browser and seeing other clients respond instantly. No Javascript moving

My question/curiosity is why do so many people use ffmpeg (frustrated by the syntax) when GStreamer is available? `gst-launch-1.0 filesrc ! qt4demux ! matroskamux ! filesink...` people would be less frustrated maybe? People would also

Hopefully you are in a network that allows P2P! Then STUN just works and you can use any of the public servers (CloudFlare, Google, Twilio...) Running your own TURN server would be trivial also. I have been tempted for a long time to make a

You can already do this! I saw this on X[0]. You can do WebRTC to Realtime API + getDisplayMedia. [0] https://www.loom.com/share/22a165508ae5491dbd536fbbc5348fcc

I would love to do that. What I really wanted to build was a 'tour guide'. I could walk up to a piece of art in the museum and get more info on it. It would also be multilingual. At my local museum all the art descriptions are Eng

It definitely takes coaching to use it. My daughter will interrupt and waits for Santa to repeat himself (and it doesn’t) As technology gets better I’m excited for turn based voice ai to go away :)

This wasn’t built to be a general purpose phone. It’s a single purpose tool, if it had full SIP support it would need more expensive hardware. When I worked on this I knew I wasn’t building some interoperable general tool. I am being honest

My experience with D&D was on the computer. I didn’t have friends that would play with me. I didn’t feel constrained by having computer driving the story. Games like Baldurs Gate pulled away from unhappy things happening otherwise. id s

My hope is that the toy gets people interested/exposure to the idea. Then the curious will open up the device/try to DIY. Lots of voice ai providers and microcontroller media code is open source!

Why? It’s probably just speech to text failing. It reminds me of using early Windows. The unexpected behaviors of the software was what was fun. Maybe not something everyone finds enjoyable.

How is roleplay with this object different then other toys? If you get lost in a D&D game is that bad because the world isn't real? Getting lost in Myst and making Doom WADs was a joy I have always been trying to recapture. I am co

The answer isn't no. You can open up the phone and modify the ESP32. I do that pretty often with IoT devices. It's not as easy as setting a URL, but totally possible if you are determined enough.
