I really love all the work the Mux team is doing! They don't just throw APIs over the wall. They are putting in lots of effort to educate/empower developers. This is good stuff, and not just propietary knowledge to sell something.

I have been working on https://webrtcforthecurious.com/ to solve that. It approaches WebRTC from the protocol. I also try to give credit/real history at the end! I played around with https://github.com/

WebRTC really isn't that big. Google's implementation just is targeted at their needs. If you are doing it for ingest you just need * Basic SDP library, ICE-Lite, DTLS, SRTP If you ship RIST you pretty much end up with the same th

I am super happy that I invested in Go. I ended up working on TURN, WebRTC and DTLS and feel I made the right choice. The impact vs time spent was worth it. I don't think there is any other language I would have had a better experience

Super cool. It would be really awesome to get this in the web browser as well. I would love to have access to my music/movie collection on anything with a browser. You also wouldn't need to worry about setting up DNS/Public I

There is still a lot of room for innovation in the space, that is why you see so many attempts. WebRTC stagnated for quite a few years. The same people were building the same things, and everyone assumed the space was done. I think it is wo

Amazing work! The UI is really slick, I was able to share a screen and use it pretty much instantly. The installation instructions are also really slick https://screego.net/#/install . This is what keeps me writing Go,

Really great work on this! I am a big fan of WebRTC. Even if I had a server I would try to use SCTP over DTLS. I have gotten better transfer rates. Not having to worry about HOL blocking and the overhead of TCP.

In the README it mentions that mDNS candidates break things[0]. This should still work if you are in the same LAN though, the mDNS name just needs to be encoded properly? Maybe the author was trying to connect across networks that don'

Do you mind expanding on the `weakest link of P2P connection` on a LAN? I am really interested. I was able to get stuff connecting without signaling via mDNS, and I am working on a RFC now to grow on that idea! * https://github.c

What language is the server in? You just need a WebRTC implementation and you should be good to go!

Yea pretty much! The only other thing is SCTP. One nice thing is that the protocol is less flexible. The clients are expected to support NACK, Congestion Control and some other stuff. I haven't done SIP stuff in 10 years. I just rememb

WebRTC is going to be better for most users (IMO). WebRTC provides congestion control so video stays real-time. It works pretty well with very little effort. Some companies have decided to roll their own, https://webrtchacks.com&

One big issues was poor crypto performance. I managed to convince Google to turn AES-GCM on with SRTP! https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=713701... I am sure there are other issues as well.

The term 'WebRTC' is overloaded, it can mean the protocol or the API. These samples only cover in the browser. This repo is also kind of dead https://github.com/webrtc/samples/issues/1350 If you are

Will do! ICE is layer 4(I think ?) ICE is used to establish connectivity over UDP, TCP, TLS or DTLS. With a preference in that order. It just keeps falling back to more expensive transports if the prior ones failed.

I have had a few email conversations with Dan. Every time I feel great afterwards (even though I had broken a rule with Show HN). He is empathetic, but still fair/consistent. You all are doing a fantastic job :)
