I used to use a lot of budgeting tools like Microsoft Money. At the end of the day I realized that they were all a waste of time. No amount of new bank accounts helps you make more money. Everybody has the same common goal of making more mo

I'm a fan of digital currencies so I frequently visit Freenode channels: #bitcoin #litecoin #bitcoin-dev #mtgox Its interesting to observe the growth of the channels during bitcoin's hype cycles.

Thats true, NSA related stories have been flooding the front pages of hacker news for the last two weeks. I don't mind a couple of posts but when every other story is related to the news, it gets dry fast.

You're entering an incredibly competitive market with a small budget (and very expensive costs). If I were you, I would spend as much time as you can learning from the forums at webhostingtalk.com and trying to sell to that crowd first

I admire the VC companies that pledge towards charitable causes. Its nice to see one that actively works towards promoting these causes too.

I guess what this highlights is a big opportunity for developers willing to invest some time in growing markets. The recent apple film "Making a difference one app at a time" highlights this. Most of the apps look incredibly simpl

Thats an interesting concept. It looks to me like a kind of niche. Almost like a kick starter but for already established (but young) companies? How do IPO's and things like that work?

Thats an interesting read. Getting a technical developer to think as holistically as you laid out in that essay is a challenge. Its a challenge that I find very difficult, when I just want to dig into code, I have to continually tell myself

Other books that I've found helpful are the many socioeconomics books out there: Malcolm Gladwell - Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers Tim Harford - The Undercover Economist Nassim Taleb - The Black Swan I enjoyed the Steve Jobs book too,

Hey fmstephe, sure I have an API although its very limited right now. I was told that a good way to increase usage was to allow developers to interface their own trading scripts with my engine. Drop me a email on joe@btc.sx

Good work. I think you could make the description of what it does a little clearer as I had to play with a few of your examples before I realized.

Hey Paul, Do the lessons economic history that these books teach still have relevance today? Technology (as a term to describe innovation) back then would have a very different meaning to technology today.

Whilst I agree with your ideals, this would not work from a developer / company perspective. Can you imagine how hard it would be to work a raw dataset when everything in your database does not have meaning?
