Forgiven. Looking back at my post today I'm surprised by the use of 'you're'. I'm typically a nazi about it myself.

Corrected. Yes, you're wife comes first. But you're wife would understand the dream you have been working on and make concessions to support it. In my view, he had two commitments, his company (involving employees, investors and the journ

You're right. Thought I had learned that awhile ago. Guess not.

I think he was trying to escape. I'm sure it all depends when he planned the honey moon (most likely before they started, considering they came about in December '09) but still, you're employees come first.

Regardless, who goes on a month-long honeymoon at all? Let alone being at a startup. No matter who you are, I'd say max is two weeks. ----------- Edited my 'Irregardless' to 'Regardless'

My first thought exactly. Mechanical engineers and physicists appreciate where Tau is at the moment. But as someone notes, there is always symbol conflicts.

That makes a lot of sense. But also just goes to show how effective preliminary design work can be for making a smoother overall production curve. Still, one can easily get lost in it if they don't step back every once in awhile and reali

Can someone explain to me why this is important. From the outset it's clear that there will always be a chance of failure and the two generals can never be certain. Why does it matter that this proof exists. Or is there something that's

I quite enjoyed it. Maybe it's not HN material but it was a pleasant read and spoke well to people who struggle to figure out what happiness is. Most people at HN would probably agree that enjoyment would come from creating something. I

I don't buy it. Don't have much reasoning more then gut feeling but it just doesn't sit right. Also, claiming such a thing as the internet is making us stupid is a great way to sell books. It would seem that the author made a conclusion a

We build things intentionally so that they don't last long anymore. There's an entire realm of engineering dedicated to predicting failures of mechanical devices at a certain range. The ipod comes to mind of course, but there are many mor

Is amazing at the wealth of knowledge these older guys have. Funny, I had heard some article trying to say that voyager was sending 'alien messages'. Of course it's just one bit swung the wrong way.

I find it hard to argue that piracy is beneficial. I am of the mind that intellectual property rights are currently inadequate from my own experiences in patent law. My main beef is that the RIAA and MPAA have a defunct business model and

More talking about actual history such as 19th century Europe. However this memo is dated as August '06 so we can assume that it happened sometime earlier that summer. From this google finance chart: http://bit.ly/ar1PSo it shows the mas

Man this is terrible management and exactly the type of thing that just asks for backlash. Where's the students of history? When you create a police state like this in a company, control will be lost, morale will fall and productivity cras

Yea.. And we have fission, a proven power source over the last 50 years but nooooo, we need to invent something even better. Fusion is possible, but actually getting it to reliably generate power is a long ways off.

Conflating nuclear weapons and nuclear power is one thing that I will never forgive my parent's generation for. To nit pick however. An A-bomb and Chernobyl are also completely different. Chernobyl was a graphite moderated reactor which m

And here I was thinking the article would be about a fission reactor! Much tougher DIY project. Heavy water or graphite pile would be your best bet. That way you can use natural uranium from your back yard. The article mentions uranium
