Absolutely agree with the "one of those assumptions" bit. See http://infiniteundo.com/post/25326999628/falsehoods-programm... for a great list. (And related, see https://www.mjt.me.uk/pos

Agree with the first part, less so the second. YC is (rightly) worried about signalling risk. If they exposed who they thought the 25% were, the other 75% would struggle to get funding.

Bingo. I've also heard this sentiment expressed as "Flip a coin. While it's in the air, your brain will be wishing for one of the sides. Pick that choice and forget about the coin."

If you're able to tell, which division is that? Is this really inner-Google product development, or mostly/partial/somewhat outsourced via a prod-dev consultancy?

I think you mean that only the _seller_ pays the agent. But yes, I agree the American system is a bit odd. For one thing the listings are WAAAAYYY old by Australian standards - here you list your house with an auction or "sale by"

Maybe I missed it, but as far as I can tell, this comment is the only documentation of what "research mode" means. You might want to address that somewhere...

Best of luck guys! I prototyped something like this on two separate occasions in 2012[1]. The first attempt was using a laser projector to do the AR in a way that multiple people could observe - I still think that's the ultimate way to

I tried to do inertially stabilised projection with a laser projector for an augmented reality concept. Unfortunately, laser projectors were only around 15 lumens at the time - I needed bright ambient light for the SLAM stabilisation to wor

I like the idea of LiFi communications. Might be hard for devices to upload data, but beaming stuff from your light bulbs down to your devices might be a very high bandwidth possibility. My imagination is getting ahead of me, but you could

Unless I'm misunderstanding (which I could well be - this isn't my field!) those use several narrow-band coloured lasers and combine the output. This article is a single wide-band semiconductor.

The best take-home interview I ever did had a time-limit. And of course, I panicked when getting close to that limit, and tried my best to tidy up my solution but didn't really manage. Then a pop-up appeared asking "Would you like

I agree for the most part, but it may well be enough to break through some inertia. 12k for a two man team is 3k/month, whereas in full time work most engineers would be making at least 10k/month. I know personally I'd be uni
