That's what happens without regulation (limits on the size of the loan) or inflationary controls (rate increases). Lending exists to help amortize the cost of a big-ticket purchase so that they can grow and have security, as a business

> Understand your house is a leveraged investment and you'll do well. Your primary house is not an investment, because if you sell it you are now homeless. This is literally the first thing any RIA or CFPA teaches you.

That's a lot of analysis. I couldn't hang on that long because OP had so many arguments. However, something has to put the breaks on rising house costs like OP says, or we're heading back to pre-1930's where 60% of the p

I recently re-rolled a password auth protocol because Auth0 and AWS Cognito were just so goddamn complicated. Ages ago I used stormpath because it was so simple, I realize there are many options today for federated logins, 2FA, SMS / p

It's not politics. It is a practical reality that it is dangerous. As dangerous as coal plants. But for some reason HN likes to turn a blind eye to un-disposable toxic waste and the potential for citywide devastation (Chernobyl).

I've been using Moom since 2013 as a window tiler on macOS. That combined with the new window snapping is much better than macOS tiling IMHO.

Side note regarding humans: I was in a hotel in France that referred to the ground floor as "floor zero" in their elevator. The only time I've ever seen zero used to count something IRL.

What has been your experience working with activists in NGOs/nonprofits? I've worked with several over the past few decades and emotions certainly are part of it, but trying to change a government doesn't happen overnight. Fo

I use a YubiKey with LastPass. But it seems that still wouldn't help with "pass the hash", correct?

You are correct: if the password used to create the key is trivial, then there definitely exists hardware that can guess AES256 passwords even if a KDF is used weakly. I'm not sure how to read that table. Is that really the cost for a

This argument has never made sense to me. Keeping an encrypted password file in the cloud or locally makes no difference. There exists no computer system than can crack an AES256 encrypted document. The weaknesses are in the protocol. Stori

From what I understand: you still need the master password locally to decrypt the individual passwords. A hash won't provide that. All you're doing here is logging into LastPass.

Beacons also have to broadcast the DTIM which allows stations to come out of standby if there is data waiting for them. This can be up to 128 bytes. But I agree, beacons are stupidly fat. The basic beacon is quite small except for the addit
