That makes sense with AWS S3 pricing, I had always wondered if it was more distributed compared to the cheaper B2, Wasabi, etc.

I don't know the details myself, but one aspect may be how many places your files are stored. With B2 or similar S3 based storage, it's generally in one datacenter. But at least from what I've heard, stuff like Storj or Sia h

One example is Ubiquiti Unifi management software using MongoDB, you end up with 4GB+ of space usage just to run some basic software because of the prealloc files.

DIY is the best route. Anything proprietary is going to end in disaster when they just decide they don't feel like supporting it anymore. It can be cheaper than off the shelf NAS units too.

Depends, I have a very good boom mic plugged into a solid interface that has essentially no background hiss or noise. The software noise cancelling like Krisp in Discord or this Nvidia software is really nice because it stops outside noises

You can for sure. But it seems like a waste of resources by Signal, they could be making the chat part of the app better instead.

As far as I know, TP-Link doesn't require any cloud based service, or even a local controller. They can work fine without any of it and you just manage them locally/directly.

Unlike most wireless power ideas and concepts that are complete BS, I actually believe that powering a low power IoT sensor that would normally last a year or something on a battery might be possible by using ambient energy like this.

It's interesting to me that linux doesn't natively reserve a little space to allow basic commands like directory listing and file deletion to function even with a full disk. Because really the biggest problem when I've had a

That's something to think about. But I'm not sure how I would end up on fak3b00k.com unless something changed my bookmark for it, or I really mistyped it but if I did that the URL being different is a dead giveaway.

Why are people so dismissive about this? It's a significant usability problem among many, many others that gnome has. It should be annoying that the issue keeps coming up. It's not a 'meme' that gnome lacks an extremel

I used to use Keepass with auto-type. I had a hotkey for it, and it would recognize the site based on the browser window title. That would probably be the best of both, no clipboard, and no browser addons.

Technically it is, as you can keep expanding your own storage. Compared to a cloud storage service that has hard limits on space usage.

I do that as well. If it's true or not, I don't know. But my impression from using both platforms daily is that iOS paid apps are higher quality, in both design/looks and performance.

That's some extremely slow performance for all the money spent to add NVME to the Pi. I get that there's a fun factor involved with raspberry pi stuff, but I wish the performance to price was better. I'm better off buying off

It also depends if you're renting a dedicated server, vs cloud/VPS. AWS/Google/Azure deal with virtualized systems that can be moved around to another server easily. OVH has a lot of dedicated servers as well though, so

Hmm, I have to say it's impressive to do this at 3 kbps, but even the Lyra sample I found very hard to understand, and misheard most of the words. The original was the only one I could understand fully.

I think curved is worth it on the bigger ultrawides. It feels a lot more natural. I also like how nice an ultrawide is compared to 2 separate monitors.

The difference is, good luck getting Element installed on iOS if Apple removes it from the app store. On Android you just grab an APK or use F-Droid and it's a couple taps.
