Let me know if you're going to make your own study group.

And here I was thinking it would take me about 2 months to finish it. Anyway, I'd definitely like to participate. Also, take a look at this: http://new.p2pu.org/en/groups/sicp-study-group/

Is there any way to postpone the 30 day countdown? It's going to be a terribly busy month for me as the finals are coming up.

A little off-topic: Doesn't it bother you that with Node.js, a lot of the basic functionality needs to be coded (even with a framework like Express), while a framework like Django basically offers almost everything that you need? I really l

I'd like to see some proof as well. While there is some tracking involved in Chrome, I doubt they track browser history as well.

Out of pure curiosity, how is this in any way related to start-ups or technology?

You should focus strictly on theory and css. For example, you can give advice on how to align certain things on a web page in order to make it visually appealing. Then you show the css required to make it happen.

There will be pros and cons to every system. How else do you think we can decrease the growth rate of the HN userbase, which is probably the root cause of the decline in quality comments and threads

HN would still be open for everyone to see, commenting and submitting threads would be invite-only.

Make it invite-only to post threads/comments and quietly associate the inviter with the invited person.

I think the best solution would be to make HN invite-only.

How do you know your skills are good enough to take on a $XXXX project? I've never done freelance work, but I would love to start doing some work after school and earn a few bucks along the way.

Getting something up and running on Amazon EC2 is actually quite easy. Had zero sys admin experience as well, but managed to run a simple app on my free micro instance in less than a day. Another popular option is Linode. EDIT: There's also

Is it really that easy to charge $50-75/hr without being recognized as a decent developer?

Imagine the increase in development speed of projects that aim to create a true decentralized internet, if the bill passes. The killswitch might not be so bad after all.

On the other hand, giving the president an internet kill switch will drastically increase the development speed and popularity of systems such as the mesh network or something similar.

There was someone on HN a few days ago who owned a .co website and said that he received a lot of emails from people telling him that his logo was missing an 'm' after '.co' That's why I think a lot of people would append an 'm' to links to

I honestly think going from 0 to 2500 will be harder than 2500 to 10000. Lots of people don't get to that first 2500 because their products aren't in demand, but if you do, you'll realize there is demand for your product and from then on yo
