I think that the MBP actually has the better CPU and the better thermals (the latest XPS is not that great in this regard). Other than that, I completely agree

The hardware is nice and definitely better than the alternatives, but the real difference is the software. The acceleration, the low latency and the super smooth animations for the gestures are what really set the mbp apart and make the ges

Many drivers come with crap bundle apps with stupid behaviour. My previous Windows laptop had a super annoying constant display flickering, even on a fresh installation. After months, I learned that I had to disable "auto-resfresh disp

The latest XPS/Thinkpads X1 offer glorious matte FHD displays with 100% sRGB coverage and 500+ nits of brightness. I still think than MacBooks's resolution is the best compromise though

If I like macOS more than Windows why shouldn't I pick a MacBook? Why shouldn't I pay 300/400 extra euros on a 2000 euros machine that I'll use everyday for 4/5 years if the software makes me happier/faster? Fo

Yeah I don't get it either. Without macOS, a MacBook doesn't make any sense IMHO

Macbooks' trackpad are good because of macOS' drivers. On Linux, they suck just as much as any other glass trackpad.

16GB of RAM and still it will stop receiving major SW updates within a couple of years. This is where iPhones really shines, even Google is crap in comparison, and I say this as an Android user (never owned an iPhone)

I think that these kind of comparisons are quite hard to make. Even back in 2014, Apple offered 16GB of RAM on the base model 15", just like they do today, but they now use much faster RAM (obviously) and give you many more options. Th

Yep, so many people don't think about that when they look at laptops and it's so annoying. FWIW, the Y CPU in the Air is set at 9W instead of the usual 4.5W

Yes, batteries are probably the biggest issue, because they deteriorate. On all the retinas you have to separate them from the chassis using a thread (something like a fishing line). It's not too hard to do, but it's not fun neith

On the other hand, my 2014 15" MBP didn't come with less than 16Gb and still packs a quad-core 45w CPU, a decently fast SSD, a crazy good chassis and trackpad and a bright hi-dpi display. I think it's still better than most o

The keycap and the scissor mechanism are replaceable, but not officially (at least it isn't on the 2012-2015 models). So if you have an issue with one key, Apple will likely still offer a whole top-case replacement (this is what they d

While this is true, the battery (which is likely the only component most people will need/want to replace) is still glued to the case, the RAM is soldered and I'm not sure Microsoft will provide a replacement keyboard to you for a

Well, on the 16" they improved the thermals as well (2nd biggest complaint for the previos 15"), put a much more powerful GPU (3rd major complaint) and more storage for the same price and finally put a bigger battery which I'

Exactly. When I had some sticky keys on a 2015 MacBook Pro, the Genius told me that the only way to fix that was to replace the whole top case and it wouldn't have been cheap. I just went home, searched a bit on YouTube, removed the ke

Try Wipr, it's super simple and minimal and it works very well, but it costs $2. If you want something free with more customization options (and open source) there's Adguard

If you are on 69 or higher, go to "about:config" and enable "apz..allow_zooming". It's still a little buggy, but it works quite well
