What a bad article. Here's the original one: http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/2187-incompetent-people-... The original article basically claims that people who are incompetent at something will have a hard time recognising people who a

Scala is a language, not a framework. You can use Spring with Scala too [1]. Personally, I wouldn't use it for an enterprise project just yet, because of its compatibility issues. And why on earth Java SE? The enterprise edition gives you e

You've already expressed your disdain for both Spring and Java EE in several comments. However, I haven't noticed that you provided any arguments on why you think both of these solutions are bad. I'd be interested in hearing them.

Could you tell us which framework you're using then? I know that most Java enterprise software is either on Spring or on EJB, I'd love to know if there's an alternative.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "configuring the IDE"? I never had to configure Eclipse in any way to start a new project. I don't have much experience with NetBeans or IDEA, but I sincerely doubt that you need to do any special con

You're mistaking big with technologically complex . The author of the article clearly states that there is no complex technology involved in solving these problems. Yet, they are big. They're big because solving these problems would make

This is exactly what HN should not do. Making a statement by having the site down for a day is one thing (although I'm also opposed to that, and I voted no in the poll), but actively forcing your users to help some cause even though they

I'm not sure any more which stackexchange site is a good fit for this sort of questions. It seems that it would be closed on http://programmers.stackexchange.com/ as well, at least from what I can read in the FAQ.

I never understood the point of using a less capable language and then using a tool to compensate it, e.g automatically generate code for it. I definitely agree with you on this one :). Sure, it's better to use a language that lets you ha

Well, this is not exactly what I want. You can catch exceptions by type, but only from some code (for example, a Java library) that actually throws different types of exceptions. In Gosu, I can't throw them by type , at least from what I

This looks very nice. From what I've seen, the only thing I'd change is the way it deals with exceptions. Specifically, I'm not very happy with this way of throwing exceptions (example taken from Gosu documentation on exceptions [1]):
