Good point. I am being handwavey, sorry about that. First, I see "AGI" as a real problem we'll have to face at some point. I believe we will be too late by the time we recognize it as a problem, so let's ignore that &q

(Warning: I'm having a very hard time determining if you are trolling or are for real..) That's not the most alarming use case of this tech. By far. (IMHO) Also, I find this reasoning very off-putting. Putting child porn into a di

I am no psychologist and as such have no idea what I am saying, but we're on a discussion forum so yeah. Something tells me sex is taboo because of some very fundamental psychological dissonance. Sex by its nature completely shatters a

I get your and the article's drift, but saying it won't come to pass because of grumpy programmers is IMO a bit unfair. I believe it'll come to pass, but it'll take a while because there's not a huge need for it rig

We want to compete in elaborate made-up games both physical and intellectual, hold fancy parties and dress up and play pretend together and basically have a blast all the time. I don't think we're that hard to decipher. The stuff

What makes you so sure an "artifical" system has no qualia? Do you find that hard to believe? Why? Why could having qualia not be some kind of inherent, perhaps emergent property of all systems complex enough to be called intellig

In my view human intelligence is being cracked open like a nut as we speak. It's a matter of decades - honestly, I think years - before all kinds of shit will hit all kinds of fans. However, irrespective of the societal impact, intelli

It's productivity porn denouncing productivity porn. It is both excellent and not accomplishing anything. I'm sorry I don't see a problem.

Interestingly, this post itself is exactly what the author denounces. A lot of words that don't accomplish anything. Not dissing the post, it's excellent. Just pointing out.

You ask if this stack is "sound". I'd say it is not. Most of the techs you mention are immense, humongous beasts. I'd say drop them all. If you really, really need an "app" instead of wrapping a simple website

I can definitely tell the author put a lot of time and energy into this article and is generally more intelligent than I am so I'm absolutely not trying to be difficult here, but I.. how to put it.. well, disagree. Kind of. It's c
