That's a yes and no. Venture funded companies like Anthropic have a history of low follow through with peripheral projects (like Bun is for them). Of course they do - their responsibility is ultimately primarily to their investors - no

Ok, but then what's the point? How is having a small amount of compute in space useful?

I've heard this before and these are not comparable at all. Starlink is missing a few digits in it's power usage and heat dissipation needs compared to a datacenter.

I've heard this before. A datacenter and a starlink sattelite are not in the same ballpark of power usage and heat dissipation needs. The are orders of magnitude off from each other.

Anyone who has googled just once to ask if datacenters in space make any sense, has found out they don't because they can't get rid of heat. That leaves only two kinds of people left who are still talking excitedly about datacente

In short, LLMs are pretty great at working at a single level of abstraction at a time. You can go from the highest level and all the way down to the lowest level with LLMs, you just have to work at it iteratively one level at a time.

I did not and am not inclined to invest the time to do so. But I did read some second hand reports that what was new and exciting was that they found some really good performance optimizations. The thing about deekseek publishing this is th

It also has a DNF. So it has a high ceiling but also unfortunately a low floor. So using Kimi means accepting high variability of the output. Personally what I've found that has made coding agents more and more useful over the last yea

I'm as happy to see cheap open weight models any anyone is, and I'm in Europe and certainly not cheering the US on, but that's a bunch of unfounded hyperbole you just said.

That's not how memory works. You mutate a memory on every recall. Your old memories are all completely changed from what they actually were.

Seriously this is such a common response and it is such an annoying response. Yes I need an IDE. Yes I still find ai autocomplete to be useful. That's why I asked about alternatives for Cursor autocomplete.

The dissolvable tablets completely fix a runny nose for me. Much better than any nose spray, which tend to irritate the nose and lead to chronic runny nose if taken for too long.

Codex is not a replacement for an IDE. Yes I still need an IDE. When coding agents work they're great. When they don't I still need the IDE. They usually don't work that great when I'm working on something novel or brown

How's the ai autocomplete? It was unusable in November when I tried it last and went back to Cursor. Slow and when it finally did something it was just not good. Cursor is super fast and actually gives useful results. I just don't

I'm going to put a huge `depends` on this one. If it's for a small widget you click on once in a while, but it stays loaded as a full Electron app all the time, then yeah it's terrible. If it's a full time front and cent

In particular I've seen way too many people use this term as an excuse to write obviously poor performing code. That's not what Knuth said. He never said it's ok to write obviously bad code. I'm still salty about that ti

Russia weren't able to take Ukraine even when they were able to just drive their tanks right up to Kiyv. Modern warfare tech just favors the defender too much. China has ninety km of sea to cross before they even get to Taiwan. Missile

Nobody's trying to build data centers in space because it makes no sense. It's a pure grift. Data centers generate enormous heat that needs to be disposed off. In space you have nowhere to conduct heat to, because there's not
