Yeah I've mixed up my terms here. Sorry. By regular ol hash I mean a Cryptographic Hash Function [0] (as in SHA1, SHA2...) and by cryptographic hash i mean a Key Derivation Function (as in bcrypt or argon2). [0] https://en.w

Easy fix: Apply a regular ol hash function first, so the input to the the cryptographic hash function is the short'ish fixed length output of the regular hash function. A good regular hash function will preserve the entropy of a long i

You loose local reasoning as was already said. In theory you have the source code and you can know everything just by reading it all and debugging it all. In practice it becomes overwhelming. Even intelligent people can only fit a little bi

There are already a bunch of things you are not allowed to do in a free and democratic society if it is unsafe for other people if you do it. If there exists a home test that can test you for dangerous infectious diseases, and you are force

Thanks for the feedback. You don't need to embed the git credentials in the site. I just made a login form that takes the gitlab credentials. Gitlab gives you 5 users per project, so you can give several people access. You're abso

I was about to make a site just like you describe, having a static website that uses js to dynamically show and edit some content and have it be fetched and stored at some serverless host like Firebase. I guess AWS has something similar to

It looks like Netlify-cms runs the git and static website software on Netlify backends. So you're not getting the freedom to do whatever you want in the frontend like you do with my approach where the static site generation and git han

My experience is that the "backend" of a website is where the backend business logic code and the database of the web page is. But in this case it is all running in the frontend in the browser. Netlify is just the static web page

Dynamic page content without hosting a backend. Backend hosting can be enormously complicated when you just want to be able to edit a few fields in the page dynamically.

Using this and Gitlab and Netlify you can make static pages that can edit themselves without having a backend anywhere. That is the holy grail of dynamic static. Or Naught Static Pages as I call them :) I'm not talking about making use

All you do by ignoring your emotions is that you become unaware of them. They don't go away. Psychology and neuroscience have again and again found how irrational and emotional we are even when we think we are rational.

Sorry for the ninja edit. I've updated my comment. I meant to discuss how it works out of the box with Typescript, but takes more work with Rust. Seriously impressive that it can be done though.
