The advantage is price. If you're running two medium ec2 instances you're going to pay $288/month before bandwidth. 5GB of S3 storage is $0.75/month before bandwidth.

Just another data point: I've been testing a pre-release version of reMail for the last month without any real problems or crashes. My setup: gmail (not IMAP), iPhone 3G, 3.0 OS.

I second namecheap. I've used them for several years and have around 30 domains registered there (including Divvyshot). It's worth paying a little more for a more intuitive interface. I've never felt afraid of being tricked into buying s

Very cool. Feature requests: - Accept keyboard input. Some users might find it easier to press a key rather than use a mouse or even a touch screen. It would enable support for stuff like this: http://www.usm.edu/ids/tlc/images/hw-ikeys.

We need more articles like this on HN. Pursuing a career in entrepreneurship & startups is a long, hard, and unglamorous road. If you're prepared for that at the beginning it won't make things much easier but it might give you the res

This article is slightly inaccurate in its depiction of my previous company. It didn't explain how OdioWorks makes most of its revenue and it didn't give enough credit to the person who currently runs the company. Maybe I'll write a blog

From their website: "A Northwest Ohio start-up company is nearly ready to create 2,000 green auto industry jobs!" [1] They've received 312,000 orders ... right. For comparison the tesla model S has received over 1,000 orders [2]. An ord

This is absurd. If a website wants to block linking it's easy: just use http_referer and/or dynamic urls. Nobody does that because it's horrible business practice and a easy way to isolate yourself from the rest of the web. Regardless, we

I've found that novice users often associate hidden passwords with encryption. They think that because they can't see the password nobody else can. These users are often more likely to use a less secure password in visible prompts out of f

I'll let the highest ranked submission decide what to do with this. At that moment it looks like that's you. :) Let's give it another 30 minutes and make a decision at 3PM PDT.

No one's using it because I haven't told anyone one about it. The reason I'm giving this away is because I simply don't have time to maintain multiple projects. I'm focusing 100% of my energy on Divvyshot.

This has been submitted/discussed on HN before: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&... I'm not complaining. It's probably worth the resubmit. I've used the site several times since originally it on HN.

I found this firmware update increased my disk performance by 58% on reads and 15% on writes. Not bad. I'm now averaging 105MB/sec reads on my 13" macbook pro. http://sam.bluwiki.com/blog/2009/06/performance-numbers-on-a...
