Tyler Cowen has said he wrote his last book for the AI. I'm nobody, and I'm in there because I wrote a lot for a popular open source project I was involved with a decade ago. Who knows if it'll be good or bad, but if you put

I'm responding to the implication that "mechanical shit" is local and thus less damaging. Since they mentioned nukes it seemed like an obvious example where local things can be catastrophic. The theoretical risk of electronic

Dropping nukes on Japan was about as mechanical as you can get. The first half of the 20th century excelled in mechanical destruction. Thus far, the electronic age has been much less bloody.

Tennessee was the most stark example, but not the only one. And the fact that education is often sub-standard isn't a good case for more of it. The point: it isn't blindly obvious that devoting even more of our children's liv

There's some evidence that preschool improves children's educational outcomes in the short to medium term, but actually is negligible or even harmful in the long term. A study of Tennessee's pre-k program showed that students

Agreed, but a question occurred to me: what if high IQ people aren't more delusional but more capable of articulating or acting upon their delusions, thus making it more apparent? The delusions of a normal intellect are probably less i

This becomes second nature after a while. I've developed an intuition about when a model loses the plot and when to start a new thread. I have a base prompt I keep for the current project I'm working on, and then I ask the model t

He said he spoke with about 100 local people, and that was their general consensus. They're more likely to understand how they're better off than a tourist, or someone reading what a tourist wrote.

Some elements of beauty are objective. As in, they are hardwired into our brains. Some cities are more beautiful than others. Prague is more beautiful than Detroit.

Yes, and for image and video generation too. Hunyuan (open source video) has been remarkable. Flux dev makes some incredible images. The fact that it's still only going to get better from here is hard to imagine.

Nothing is truly neutral. Humans all have a different corpus too. We roughly know what data has gone in, and what the RL process looks like, and how the models handle a given ethical situation. With good prompting, the SOTA models already a

Right. Arc is meant to test the ability of a model to generalize. It's neat to see it succeed, but it's not yet a guarantee that it can generalize when given other tasks. The other benchmarks are a good indication though.
