Fully agree, as a parent. I used to set goals for myself during my train commutes, to try and delete 100 pictures during my half-hour ride, but I didn't keep it up long enough to really make a dent.

I think the implication is that to be interesting you need to write from an individual's standpoint. That's why fiction written by LLMs sounds so boring (at least right now): because you can't amalgamate all the text in the w

I think it's a dream if you know your aim at the onset is to get 2-5 good shots out of it, so you know you're going to quickly go through and delete almost every photo. Just scan the whole thing and see if there are any that a

I'm more than old enough to remember the birth of the internet. Back when I had a GeoCities website about aliens (seriously) it was still mine . I had a comments section and I hoped people would comment on it (no one did). I had a cou

So it was. I swore I read grad students. I guess my eye skipped on after "In grad school..." and filled it what it imagined. Ignore my comment above, then.

I've never heard that, it doesn't really make sense given what we know about REM sleep and slow-wave sleep, and the Wikipedia page on blinking doesn't mention that at all, not even as an old theory.

I feel this too, and always wondered if it related to the glymphatic system [1]. This is the system that clears out metabolic waste from the brain which builds up over time, and it's theorized that during slow-wave sleep in particular,

Plants respire oxygen continually, day and night. It's a myth that they only respire at night. Like every other organism except for anaerobes (mostly microbes, some fungi) they need oxygen in order to burn fuel for cellular processes.
