We're doing this specifically to test but I don't see latency being a serious issue. The apps only pull text of about 1k at any given time and we have a 40Mbps connection so assuming we find a service in the U.S. I can't see it being a pro

We're looking at outsourcing a few of our non-secure applications because management is unpredictable. They will, without any warning, just decide they need to give x group of employees a computer and we'll have to add 20 computers to the

Facebook certainly could have handled things better but other than that I agree with you. It seems a little obnoxious to demand free service. Even if it was free before. If it were more money he might have a better case. But given other

Ironically Colonel Sanders was ashamed of the franchise (last paragraph: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harland_Sanders#Death_and_legac... ) so I think he'd approve of this :)

I understand you were joking but there's a grain of truth in what you're saying. People who don't believe in Evolution are looking for holes in the theory and those holes will always exist. Because no matter how many fossils we do find th

I was pretty disappointed. Usually his posts have interesting insights and are well thought out. That's what makes them worthwhile. This post was the exact opposite of that. It's an insight that pretty much everyone who knows anything ab

I'll second this. We've been experimenting with Zoho Office which has an API (at least for it's most important apps). I'm shocked that Google (a company with way more resources) hasn't at least matched what Zoho is doing in the space.

I think the author's point is that the internet needs a payment system in which the customer doesn't need to put in their credit card. That's why he's saying Amazon could be the default payment provider (since almost everyone has an Amazon

"People assume that when the mind wanders away it just gets turned off" Who assumed this? It seems like a pretty stupid assumption from a cognitive standpoint. Daydreaming is basically an activity where the brain has to create a whole sce

I was 4 when my family got a computer. All I really remember was that the storage media was a cassette tape. My Dad worked for weeks to get the Cheers theme to play on it (using some DOS midi program I assume) and I remember wondering why

I don't see how updating your status on Facebook presents any more obligation than putting out a tweet on Twitter. There's certainly not so much of a difference that it would make me use one over the other. Funny Story, every follower I ha

At least in the United States that isn't true. In the U.S. the republic was constructed as a way for the well educated to trump the masses if need be. That's the original reason for the Electoral College and that's why the U.S. Senate was

I actually think this is an excellent idea. Before you interview them have them interview you for a couple minutes. We ask questions based on what we value so by listening to their questions it allows you to determine what they value. Eve
