AWS Secrets Manager was so easy to setup. With implicit auth using IAM roles on our EC2s and the aws sdk I was able to add secrets support in literally a day for all our services.

Yet humans designed the models, so the training process for chat gpt etc includes human evolution by your logic.

Scale is a very subjective thing since one is analog (86B neurons) and one is digital (175B parameters). Additionally, consider how many compute hours GPT 3 took to train (10,000 V100s were set aside for exclusive training of GPT 3). I'

This is definitely current models' biggest issue. You're training a model against millions of books worth of data (which would take a human tens of thousands of lifetimes) to achieve a superficial level of conversational ability t

That's only for very broad things; as long as there's no red flags, short term takes priority.

Exactly. It's more accurate to say "we look at long term as long as the short term stock price also looks good".

Are most of the losses in the motor? I figure it'd be friction in the drive train, the bearings, air drag, etc.

"Inefficient" is a rather relative term here, since batteries, motors, and transmission wires are >=95% efficient already.

How does a superconductor help with that? Lithium ion is already 95-99% efficient, same with motors. It would help with the charging cable, but that's not increasing the battery capacity. Off the top of my head the main advantage here

We need to dramatically shorten copyrights for books. The life of an author plus 70 years is insane. It basically guarantees no modern book will ever be in the public domain.

We're going to get to a point where ML will just dynamically generate entire movies custom tailored to each person's taste; all you do is pay for the compute time (plus a small fee) to generate the movie.

Yes and no. You can utilize ML to do 90% of the work in preparing an input, then have a human verify to ensure it's correct. It's similar to how ML models are starting to consume ML generated artwork, which people think is bad, bu

I like the way Diablo 2 did it, where they created 3D models then had a script render to create the animation frames at all the different angles. I did something similar for my very amateurish attempt at a game, and it saved a massive amoun

Vector processing is not parallelism, but rather non-scalar. Specifically, it's a single operation that is able to do work on multiple data items, rather than parallel processors doing work at the same time.

Parallel programming is simply a type of concurrent programming. Concurrent means that two tasks can both progress in a given duration. On a single core computer every thread runs concurrently. Parallel expands on concurrency to mean that t

I can guarantee you that if Nintendo says they aren't patching the console after it's sunsetted, publishers will still happily publish games on the console without that clause in the contract. This is still 100% on Nintendo.
