I always find it difficult to square away the critical comments on HN or even studies like this with my own experience. Focused practice on a specific thing I want to get better at or learn has always resulted in rapid improvement in that s

Now we get Microsoft delivered bloat and unwanted, pre-installed software. They'll even automatically install all the OEM junk when updating a fresh W10/11 install with a clean USB stick made from the MS iso. That didn't happ

I've had the same issue with Linux. It's far from immune. I've also generally found it easier to recover a borked Windows install than a Linux one.

For some reason you and others seem to think every action or decision takes the same amount of effort and willpower. That's the only contradiction I see in these comments which is causing all these conflicting opinions.

You also aren't switching planes as frequently as you do trains, much less with 5-15 minutes of time to switch trains in many cases. 6-15 minutes of delay absolutely matters if it means you will likely miss connecting trains, which can

I think it's Apple only because OP made this on an Apple M1 and that's all he intended to support. As for OCR on Windows, there seems to be that functionality available on an OS level: https://medium.com/dataseries

Thanks for sharing. It's a very cool idea. I briefly tried using it but I don't have an AMD card (just Intel and NVIDIA). How difficult do you think it might be for me to implement support for something like NVENC instead? I only

How much more complex is it to go through the images as frames in a video? Is all the processing (like OCR) done before it's added to the video or is that something you can do on each frame?

I'm curious as to why you chose to turn the screenshots into a video. What are the benefits of storing them like that instead of as image files?

It's getting coverage because the GTAV source and assets weren't publicly leaked until now. The hack was in 2022, but AFAIK nobody but a select few had access to the stolen data.

It was GTAV (2013) that was leaked. GTAVI was leaked a few months back in the form of early development videos and the reveal trailer but nothing else. Edit: GTA6 code and a testing build were supposedly also taken in the Rockstar hack, but

Searching for "RAG" on Kagi and Google give some AI-related results fairly high up, including results that explain it and say what it stands for.

I'm more concerned about the possible write endurance and long-term durability of the data. I've had more than one 512GB SD card fail recently despite not owning them for long.

Wow, such a great reflective and introspective interview. I really appreciate reading about hbomberguy's own feelings about the whole thing and I've gained even more respect for him, which I didn't think was possible.

Thanks, I've bought a license now. Another question: Is there a publicly accessible changelog anywhere? All I see is a Discord link and a newsletter, neither of which I'm interested in using just to see what's changed in a ne

That doesn't make it outdated though. It's a happy accident that something developed for a certain set of limitations still has a lot of benefits today without those specific limitations. Who standardized on separate cursor keys?

Not sure what's outdated? Modal editing isn't outdated. The position of hjkl hasn't changed, so it isn't as problematic as Emacs keys or the vim escape keys. HJKL being on the home row has the same benefits as, say, WASD
