I use ASDF and it's very good to manage versions, specially if you have multiple projects with different versions of go or node, for example. You don't even need to manually switch, you can set a version per folder! Of course, the

Even if that's the case the author's point still stands, focusing the code quality in this code makes more sense, if it's bad.

But what exactly was the problem here? That the PR took 3 days? The back and forth comments? That you needed to make a PR in the first place? Because any of this things seem pretty natural to me, specially if you are a new dev in the team a

I didn't really understood this "learn then understand" concept in the article, and also didn't understood the "backdoor", can you illuminate me?

Honest question, why not? Its not like that's something that will scale infinitely, you only have so many devs and so many repos to work on, also it's not like it's hard to backup the data, actually, you can bet that you will

Wait, isn't Wrap and other pkg/errors proposals used in the current stdlib? I thought they officially accepted that package as the default errors package.

Something I've been thinking is, like the article says, SQL is a very good way to transform data, and it recommends dbt for it, but how to you test this transformation? I know dbt has tests, but on a superficial look they seem pretty t

I just want to go in a small tangent here, but I imagine that if Cesar knew he was going to die and had to adopt someone to continue his rule, he probably wouldn't pick his sickly nephew with no experience, no matter how bright he migh

Your experience is certainly invited :) I think your experience is really interesting, because as a dev our work can be hard to measure, unless you're working on something huge and very visible, so this interpersonal part of the work b

Ok, I'll ask the big question: How do you deal with politics? Specially when you are the only remote person in the team. Do you feel you have a disadvantage to someone that works in person when it comes to being recognized and growth?

It makes me think that some truths may take years, decades to really come out. Things we read today in the news might only become clear in the future, specially politics and such.

By "bare metal" you mean as a regular process in the OS instead of as a docker container? Then it should really make no difference in terms of performance. A process in a docker container is also a process in the host OS, but with

I can tell you that not only he is right, but I've used Vue for exactly that purpose before and works like a charm. You can go pretty far using Vue with a <script> tag before you start needing build tooling.

The idea now is not to separate thing by file type (all .js go here, html goes there) but to separate by logical components, thing that work together, go together. I guess it's like working in vertical slices of related logic rather th

Usually I like to take things in a practical way, if you are happy with the people you're hiring, than it's fine, and there is not much point thinking about "what if these are not the best possible people we could hire?"
