You know what? Fuck them. Fuck higher education completely. Undervalued and underpaid is the name of the game for any important IT roles in that shit hole of an industry. Disclaimer: dev at a university.

Not even feigned. I would have expected a site like 4chan, the source of all sorts of script kiddie idiocy, would know better by this time than to stick a password, even hashed, in a cookie. But sometimes you piss off the HN bees nest, and

Varnish fixes everything. Drupal's big two issues are bootstrapping drupal, because all those module hooks stack up quick, and the sometimes large amount of queries run to generate a page. Drupal 8 has gotten better about not loading h

Doesn't that seem a little insane when you can just use an ssh tunnel via any of the desktop apps? I can maybe understand this in the context of a phone or tablet, but the thought of doing any DBA on a mobile device is a little horrify

I kind of worry about the same issues regarding phpmyadmin, which is a problem with running any web frontend for a backend as a web app. Wouldn't a solution like pgadmin3 or mysql workbench be a more secure program across the board?

Every single week that I sit down and stare at my newrelic monitor, I think the exact same thing: "This is all going to collapse soon." After almost two years of staring at six figure weekly revenue values on the analytics and tra

I was also the wood splitter sent outside in the winter to take care of that task. The worst part is that it was pure vanity: my dad just liked having a fire in the fireplace. The colder it gets, the dryer the wood. This is why it splits so

I built this functionality into a few apps that never made it past proof of concept, but a good library to get your feet wet with is dropzone: http://www.dropzonejs.com/

I would argue that using a personal email and filling in your full name on coinbase, who CLEARLY state you have no expectation of privacy in this regard, is effectively the same as publicizing the information. If one cares about the privacy

You can just type emails into the gmail account creation form to get results back on if the username was taken. This whole debacle is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Would you care explaining why it is that you believe email enumeration to be "insecure"? The data obtained is an email address and a name (only if the user filled in the "name" field). This may as well be treated as publ

This is to be taken with a grain of salt, as I don't really view myself as that great of a developer (iOS, Android, PHP, Postgres, and all things frontend) but ease.js makes js even more weird. People already have a hard enough time de

Just noticed my cool little Browser(beta) menu today! Cool stuff, especially given that it's being offered for cheap Lite users like myself. I was happy with average req times; this is just icing on the cake!
