I like the fact that a security issue is being tackled. What I absolutely hate is the fact that there are no ways to turn this option off. Just like HSTS I can't turn this off and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Were originally I co

The idea is to use constant time hashing functions, and then compare the hashes instead of comparing the strings themselves. AFAIK there is no implementation of the C stdlib that makes sure no timing attacks can be performed.

I did not miss his point, I even agree with his final paragraph. But all but the last paragraph of the article is based on flawed comparisons.

This article is flawed. It seems to revolve around the fact that 'people commuting to work are more dangerous than 1 car stopping on the freeway'. The article then proceeds to explain why this is so: > 'No human is a perfe

I've programmed bloomfilters for my job. A certain product of ours keeps track of certain urls visited. We're talking millions of (unique) urls. We use bloomfilters to quickly check if a url was visited or not. If the bloomfilter

Do you not think that actually knowing, really knowing, is a worthy cause in and of itself? To have proof that we are not alone? Even if we can't get there I think that certainty would be a very nice thing to have.

This reminds me of a difference between cats and dogs (and foxes). I've got a cat, she's over 13 years old now. She's from a line of thoroughly domesticated house cats, and yet in the summer she's sometimes gone for week

I got quite frustrated when I read this article. That's because this article, and the many others like this, confuse the real issue. This article, and those like it, all state that the problem with multi-threading and synchronization i

Hmm. Although I don't agree with all that is said in the article. I find that it makes a nuanced and well structured point. Depending on what the security industry wants to achieve, they can either ridicule (punish) or ignore (reward)
