Out of interest, how did the startup pan out?

You really shouldn't use any opportunity to bring on your usual thesis - VCs collude to fund only startups created by "connected" founders - when it is so out of topic.

What are your sources of that? I am French myself, and used to be fond of the history of Napoleon, but I never heard of that.

I think it's a fine question. You are asked to design a program that would do something sufficiently complex and ill specified, which is something you will encounter on the job. I am not saying that you shouldn't test the coding a

The post really makes the OP sounds like a headhunter ("don't worry, the grass is always greener somewhere else..."), in which case I would be very wary of his advice.

For what is worth, I downvoted your first comment, and I'm not an employee of SnapChat - in fact, I don't even know what SnapChat is exactly. The reason why I downvoted you is already explained by the commenters who responded to y

I used to use xmonad, but ditched it because it wasn't working well with Android Studio. I read somewhere that other tiling window managers have problems to display Android Studio under some video drivers. Now I'm back to the defa

From your description, Paris sounds like a cheaper London, minus the English - I wouldn't recommend moving there to create your company if you don't speak French, administrative tasks will be too much of a pain, and many people in

Where are you based? I found out the French government has a program to help companies doing things for higher education - my own startup targets middle and high school, so unfortunately I don't think I can benefit it. The thing is det

This post makes me wonder, what about Jython? I don't use it, but it would be a nice fit for the OP (writing performance critical code in Java, and use Jython as a glue). Are there any drawbacks with it?

I don't do web apps with java, so I honestly don't know if it's the proper way to do it, a satire, or if there is a more straightforward way. Especially, I don't see why one has to write both the class HelloWorldServlet

It's boring at some point. You should make a countdown instead: you have, say, 1 minute to answer as much questions as you can (with an possible skip button).

I'd be wary about that advice. Sure, the companies you mention have elite teams of super smart people, but they have lots of programmers as well, so many must be average. End up in the wrong team and nothing changes (except, you get a
