Good point about the quality and price of hotels varying according to the city. Guess Airbnb business will be more successful in places like London than Berlin or Lisabon (Lisboa?).

I used to go to four stars hotels in London at my previous job for business trips, costing like 100-200 pounds a night, and really I didn't like it so much. The rooms had a TV with some light on it that was disturbing my sleep, sometim

It's not specified nowhere what you are getting for your $12K and mentoring. Could you expand on that? Are you taking equities?

If you want to speculate, how about the possibility of uploading people's mind to a robot? Let's say that we are able to send outer space a bunch of self replicating robots (they can travel to various planets and build a copy of t

Don't you know that we live in a world where anybody who can run couple of machine libraries in Python can call himself/herself "Data Scientist"? No need to understand the underlying algorithms!

I'm surprised. I don't know much about Homejoy but I read once that it was the company in the YC portfolio that has the highest growth, so I thought they would become a unicorn at some point. What happened to them?

The topics you mention are maths or applied maths topics. "Data Science" is a bubbly term that roughly means "take that big dump of data and give me some advice on how to make more money", so your list, very sadly, has l

I would disagree with that advice. If you work as a data scientist in a company, you will likely have the logs of something stored in an SQL table (be it pure SQL database or something like hadoop hive) and you will have to answer (and ask)

Probably a naive question, but why is it the case? we have the basic formula of thermodynamic: PV = nRT , with n and R being constant, so if I keep the volume the constant and decrease the temperature, it would decrease the pressure P

I suspect in most of the countries in EU you can go without visa for 3 months - your US passport grants you a tourist visa. When you go to another country, you get a new visa for that country, which means that you could stay in Europe for a
