This is pretty awesome news! I’m happy to see them doing well. I remember playing DF a bit in college and just blown away by the devs and their undying love for the game, all whilst doing it for free no doubt.

You devil! I'm pretty sure I remember running into a file that looked like that and a quick poke around showed it wasn't anything valid. Funny how these things work since I'm pretty sure I remember running into it around 2008

At least you know that programmer is going to make it very hard for those who try to maintain their work after they are gone. :)

I would argue that what is described in this post is inherent in all social networks. The wonderful thing about the Fediverse is that depending on the node you connect to, or the people you choose to federate with (in the event that you hav

I’m currently working on a project for a local-first SaaS company They have perpetual licensing (optionally you can subscribe monthly if you don’t want to pay everything upfront) and it really does put power in the user’s hands It’s fast

The idea that a VC is experiencing unfairness is a shocking revelation... Not like a large majority of VCs are completely selfish or anything.

I agree, Pleroma is better though. Just use that. Gargron has shown that they do not care much for the community or the greater fediverse at large. Pleroma also is cleaner code-wise so there's that, more active dev and lightweight rel

The linked Medium article (when talking about npm) was what I expected, but gives wonderful examples of just how bad it's gotten. For those who don't want to dig, one example was Ember.js, which has a dependency called "glimm

You’re sense of “freedom” is kind of fucked. Don’t load questions like that, it’s painfully annoying. Anyway death is not freedom; what good is freedom when you aren’t around to enjoy it? Foolish notion

The ends don’t justify the means. Sometimes to live and suffer a fate worse than death is better to die. Also I hate this idea the they’re making death slick. And the way the article is romanticizing a man who will assist you in, for many;

I remember, years ago, when VLC was fairly unknown and my dad asked if I knew what VLC was... he was convinced it was adware as he had never seen it before and when you clicked on it, nothing really happened. I looked it up after he uninsta

I've seen it happen, though it sounds like someone is over exaggerating women's reaction to their ugly mug. But yeah, I knew a woman that said anyone who smiled at her was creepy if she didn't like them they exist.

This is the talk in 2016 they referenced https://youtu.be/33bouyeSh-w It's a little cringy, but gives you an idea of who they were dealing with. The sentencing is harsh to say the least.
