And they do! My girls devour novels in their free time, but still enjoy reading together before bed (or on roadtrips). Best of both worlds!

And don't be surprised when the best laid plans go awry and/or your child has zero interest in what you think is THE world's coolest thing.

Fair point about the quota. In my defense, we didn't set the "100" goal until we were at book 53. I happened to sit down one day and make a list of books we had read and thought, "Wow! That's a lot of books...I wond

I'm sure some of this was already mentioned, but here it goes... Read to your children. We set a goal of reading 100 novels to our daughters. We're at #80 and the girls are 13 and 11. Create some traditions. Whenever either of our

I'm the youngest of three boys. We were all D1 athletes. I'm the slowest by a pretty substantial margin. However, I matured faster than my brothers and, having been able to observe them, picked up proper techniques and approaches

What a great gig that must have been! Another SE Michigan native here. Grew up going to hockey games at Yost and Munn while, of course, rooting for the Red Wings. Lots of good memories!

Thank you for this. Great motivational reading! I started building simple, 2D clones last month but have been losing steam in the face of how much work goes into even a simple game. Who knew so much goes into 80s arcade hits!?

Totally agree. Claiming Starbucks killed Seattle coffee culture is a total joke. There are plenty of funky, independent coffee houses to support if you're willing to look for them. The price is generally higher than Starbucks, but so i
