Many of us appreciate both the service and lack of ads. Thank you for both.

While I entirely agree with the gist of your comment, if the process of "unclothing my first love" took 7,000 hours, I might have to reconsider.

While not ideal, I've found a usable solution. This GitHub repo [1] has map files generated using OpenAddresses. Load the appropriate one for your area and you can search using addresses in the normal format. They currently provide map

The trouble is that the toggle for turning off the cloud functionality does not turn off this aspect of the cloud functionality. Which is a frustrating oversight.

Note that ooh.directory only indexes blogs (that have RSS feeds). Personal/indie sites that have other structures are prohibited. Which is fine, but means it isn't a one-stop-shop for indie sites.

If I host my own instance, can I federate with both 'halves'? Or will associating with one likely get my instance blocked from federating with the other?

Linux Mint has been a good, reliable option for me.

That's not a bad plan from a cost perspective, though scanning a 200+ page textbook is reasonably complex, and very time consuming.

A chemistry textbook of mine was 600 USD- brand new because the version published that year was required. That really stung.

Do you have a thorough description of how it all works you can link? (Mastodon, or the fediverse in general.) I'd like to understand it, but haven't really felt like I grasped it after reading short descriptions.

Is there an app you'd recommend to capture that motion data? I heard about this at one point, by was stymied by not knowing what I could use to record that data in a useful format for gyroflow.
