It's bad fiscal policy that's leading these trends. Our government has a huge deficit and huge debt. QE is essentially money printing, but rather than simply printing money, they (central banks) take equivalent value in assets off

Well for one, the linked video example of the Styrofoam plates and hair dryer (shown right before the immersion blender) is definitely due to Bernoulli's law. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernoulli_grip As fo

No, I believe the immersion blender trick can be explained by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernoulli%27s_principle Whereas the suction cups in the article, use spinning water as a way to seal suction cups on rough su

Don't see why refraction needs to explain lots of observations? While dark matter may fit multiple different observations better, it may also be the multiple different observations are due to multiple phenomena. So really don't se

Totally agree it's a balancing act. Sometimes the existing tool is exactly what you need, in which it would be a waste to re-invent it. Ideally though, things should be evaluated case by case, rather than sticking to a dogma. I just ha

Reminds me of a similar situation with my technical manager. He’s very dogmatic in that we should never waste time “re-inventing the wheel” (e.g. there’s already a library/tool out there that does X, don’t waste time remaking it). This

Don't see why it would risk creating extra finder windows the user didn't want. If I click safari, and safari is not open, it opens a safari window. If I click it again it doesn't open another safari window, it just activates

It has always bothered me that I can't simply click on finder in the dock to bring up a window for the first time (as it'll only toggle what windows are already open). I have to either right-click on it and select new window, clic

I don't see efficiency as nearly problematic as most seem to make it out to be (as far as the physics goes). Estimates online roughly estimate that the amount of power from the sun that strikes the Earth in an hour is more than the ent

To me it sounds like there is glut in treasuries due to the huge government deficit and there are not enough buyers. This event is the banks not having enough on hand on hand for the treasuries and the corporate tax event at once, so the fe

Wow is this such a bad article. I'm still not even sure what exactly Orsini and his startup aim to accomplish. "That’s the basic idea behind Orsini’s startup, Project Exergy: rather than transporting electricity across power lines
