Ummm, sorry but that's not correct; it is Hue, Saturation and Lightness. You are confusing luminosity with lightness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSL_and_HSV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luminosity

Interesting, but there are some issues: I couldn't get to black or white..? Also, you are mistaking luminosity for brightness: luminosity is a device factor, brightness is a color factor.

It's not the screenshot that's different - the underlying rgb values are device-independent – but rather, it looks different on every display. Calibration is the only answer, but really, other than color critical applications, such as press

Or, you can accept the obvious answer: the 7" screen doesn't have enough real estate. It's a tweener cum bastard child, too large to be a phone form factor, and too small to do many things that work well on the 10" screen, but not smaller.

I agree that it is interesting, but not necessarily relevant to Mondrian's intent. While brushwork and other painterly touches do add interest, and a subtle complexity, I don't think it was Mondrian's intention. His work presaged Albers, St
