Yeah I think the nuclear winter idea came from if the US and Soviets both launched their full arsenals in a MAD exchange, and society now associates nuclear winter with just a few nuclear explosions.

That's a reasonable take. I feel like China has such extreme ends of the spectrum, from the most modern cities to the most distant rural regions. It's hard to think of China in any sort of unified, whole way.

This is kind of a pointless statement when you make it that broadly. Are you talking about life in North Korea or in China? And do you think American media really distorts the "other" side more than Chinese or Russian media distor

It's a metric for showing you can move more quickly on product improvements. Anyone who has worked on a product team at a large tech company knows how much things get slowed down by process bloat.

I don't think he was saying their release cadence is a direct metric on their model performance. Just that the team iterates and improves the app user experience much more quickly than on other teams.

Tesla Optimus hands are iterating rapidly and are already incredible. I know it’s taboo to claim anything positive about any Musk company. But Optimus is coming. To fold my laundry and do my dishes. And maybe one day strip some wires.

My grandpa was a master electrician. My father was a master electrician. I am a software engineer. I am sweating. I feel like we have another 2 or 3 years and then it might be over. I will go work in the mines.

Yeah, very helpful to have a solid network like that. My other job offer was from a previous manager wanting to recruit me. But yeah, tough out there to land your first job right now.

I know a lot of junior developers who just gave up on that industry over the last 2 years. It seems truly rough for them. But also that's comparing it to the general boom over the previous 10-15 years. I have about 10 yrs experience, a

Have you tried SuperHeavy yet? It seems to be crushing on almost any measurable benchmark. I've only used Grok 4 (not heavy) when stuck on a problem that claude/cursor cannot get past, and Grok 4 is often able to come up with an e

Tesla (for one example) has massively scaled their battery recycling tech, they are largely recyclable at this point. I haven't read as much on the recyling of the panels themselves. But they have long lives at this point, and there wi

The incel car as you call it is extremely ambitious from an R&D perspective. 48v architecture, steer by wire, etc. Anyway, I’m not celibate. It’s just an excellent vehicle, if you don’t care about hivemind strangers glaring at you.
