I did not know that Apple's paper advert had been pushed back so late. I have seen a photo of one that appeared in the Guardian about a week ago [0] which as a reader I would skim over given the lack of branding and its similarity to advert

I've just noticed that Backpack - a sort of personal notes and tasks tool - has vanished from their homepage and I can't find an announcement about it. Does anyone know why this is?

Deut. (red/green) here; it looks fine to me. In my case, most colour-blindness issues arise from poorly contrasting colours - given that most of the Metro style is white text on a solid bright/dark (not pale) colour I don't see many issues.

The last stream I had to install QuickTime, though I believe VLC can play it by opening the source URL (check the HTML).

I was initially confused by this - it would have been a pretty big pivot for a picture-sharing startup.

It was the equivalent of PowerTools(/Tweak/XP Toy? possibly had another name) for Windows XP in that it made many Gnome & Compiz tweaks one-click options, which given Ubuntu's easy-to-use focus went down well. Things like displaying cer

A couple of issues in Chrome (stable): I can't type in or move the cursor between sub-fields on the phone controls. Where does your country-state data comes from? I've never seen a list so complete for countries outside the US!

I built one of my final university projects on Pyramid (I wanted to use Python but at the time didn't like Django) and ended up regretting it. There weren't a lot of resources out there to work from - be it projects on github, blogs and I f

There appears to be a semi-persistent "Google" text - when I cleared out the 'G' it was recreated within 20 steps by the neighbouring 'o'. Can't possibly be organic can it? E: it seems to always appear like that; so probably not organic and

I think that this is one of the instances it could work, especially with his audience. Hell, I'd buy it and my experience with anything Apple-related is zilch (thus I can't pay for it).

Sorry, I meant to point out that there are two possible ISPs that the user might have trouble accessing it on. To my knowledge, no UK ISP blocks content by an automatic or specific filter, aside from the Pirate Bay of course.

iPlayer shouldn't be assumed to be 'free' to use. The BBC is paid for by the UK license fee-payers (the majority of the population) - there's no reason why other countries should be able to access it. Not to say that I'd be against charging

I'm a huge fan of drive-by commits. GitHub's web editor makes it really easy to correct a typo or add a two-line fix - and for many people that might be their first contribution to open-source, without the faff of downloading git etc.
