I see what you're saying, but how far do we take this? If I upgrade to Mountain Lion in July, am I no longer covered? Dual-boot to Windows? Seems ripe for abusing.

This makes me sad for the future of their chat client. The toolbar may suck, but their IOS client rocks. It synchronizes with their web chat interface, so that you may switch between conversations on mobile/desktop.

Valid points about bug fixes and outstanding issues. I think the Play 2 announcement was met with a mixture of trepidation and excitement from the community. If support for 1.2.x was to decrease further then I'd be concerned. For what it's

Well maybe something like 1) upload pic, 2) show full-size pic with crop preview in browser, 3) user confirms dimensions and saves to server.

I wonder how well this would work for automatically cropping user profile pictures. Anyone else try something like this?

Lolz. They implemented a simple autocomplete plugin and call it a redesign? It's not necessarily faster for a mouse user because it requires keyboard entry.

Not sure why this was voted down. You make a good point about the possibility of mining all this data, but I'm not sure I want to give it away. We (well, some of us), go to lengths to maintain separate online personas. Why do I care if Face

Problem is that 'rewrite later' never happens because you're always busy. Setting up safeguards to protect against common attacks is quick enough that it can be done upfront. Efficiency and scaling can usually wait, though figure it out ahe

I think you're spot-on regarding bandwagons. With each new story there have been armchair critics speaking outside their areas of expertise. Not to diminish the value of well-deserved outrage, but it's a potent weapon.

Sure, maybe it will appeal to folks who aren't plugged in to those sorts of communities. I wonder if you would get a better conversion rate with an example of feedback data?

Interesting idea - I wonder why I should use something like this over another free service/community, such as Forrst. Okay, so you claim to have "average users" give feedback, but I wonder if that's of significant benefit, because it can ta

Those look nice, but I still prefer Google News' two-column layout. I can't stand when news organizations try to force everything into a single Twitter-like stream (Google News included).

I hate labeling people as "easily offended", but to complain about something like this seems excessive. If your father died would you presume to insist that your mother take down all his photos?
