Right. It's not like electronics manufacturing was moved to China in the 90s because of a shorter supply chain or superior expertise. Lower wages, and little to no environmental protection. ... and a government that will one day natio

Not sure why you got down-voted. Even if it's necessary, the costs are still pretty amazing. A bullet costs the same as a pretty nice car.

Downvoters: so it's a good thing that we are transferring technology/manufacturing expertise away from the US and to potential rivals???

3 grams is between about 1/6 and 1/8 once. Of course, only a small portion of uranium in a reactor core is converted to something else. After that, they replace the fuel as its output drops a bit. Disclaimer: I don't know en

Explanation: an equitorial mount has an axis that points at the north star (Polaris, or more accurately, the celestial north pole). One you learn to set it up, it's pretty easy to just "eyeball sight" over the shaft-bearing

I've had several small telescopes, but my favorite turned out to be my first: a 4.5 inch newtonian reflector on an (no motors) equitorial mount, with upgraded 35, 25 and 10 mm focal length plossel eyepieces. A small refractor on a cam

Perhaps a bit more subtlety: Keep global concerns global, and local concerns local. Coloring and font schemes (margins/padding too, I suppose) are usually global, with variations for broad types of components. Sizes / positions

I guess I can agree with that, in spirit. My CSS include file has very broad look and feel stuff. There is also a CSS block inside some pages that customizes size / layout stuff that only applies to that page (e.g. - fieldset and lab

I'm OK with the "one word" parameter / return value names, in part, I guess, because I'm also a big proponent of a "pro forma" comment banner for every routine. For simple things, the comment can be a one

The catch 22 is that if you can't bluff a few years experience in this year's new hotness, you might not find a job, though. Of course that's ridiculous, but whatever is, is right, as the original sadist said.
