It's deeper than that. The adoption of the Euro without a fiscal capacity at the Euro-area level means that the Euro countries are basically working with a foreign currency. That means that monetary issues are beyond political control.

Reading your comment, comes to mind that the case of Japan demonstrate that bond markets are not so essential after all and that "creation" of money doesn't necessarily generate inflation.

I'm too materialistic for taking those views seriously, but I recommend a nice Science Fiction book that deal with this: "Distress" by Greg Egan [1]. 1. http://www.gregegan.net/DISTRESS/DISTRESS.html

When automation arrive to that level, that could happen, but it's far from unavoidable. If automation happens is because it makes the economy more productive. If before happening the economy could sustain all the people, logic tell us

In July 2012 the credit rating for many Euro countries was low and the borrowing costs very high. Mario Draghi, the President of the Central European Bank (who can emit so many Euros as they wish with typing something in a computer) made a

You can't compare the Euro countries to China because the European countries are borrowing in what, in essence, is a foreign currency. For those countries, constant increasing of the debt is hardly sustainable. China has not that probl

I agree, but the debate is, (in the society at large) disproportionally, in my opinion, about the advertisements. And they are used, I think, like a distraction, instead of looking into the real issues.

So, if the Greeks work less hours is because they are lazy and if they work more is because they are inefficient. It seems they can't really win.
